No. But I'm sure he knows what's best for the team is what's best for the team.

I'm actually afraid for their lives. I never thought of this before. But after seeing the irrationality for a second straight year.. It could be a genuine fear.

The seattle thunderbirds hold his rights, so it will be interresting to see if he will go to Northeastern University or if he'll take the CHL route...

Very intriguing prospect with tremendous upsides!

Quebec players drafted by Timmims 2003-2007:

Olivier Fortier
Mathieu Carle
Guillaume Latendresse
Mathieu Aubin
Philippe Paquet
Loic Lacasse
Alexandre Dulac-Lemelin
Maxim Lapierre
Jimmy Bonneau

that is 9 Quebec born players in 5 drafts. I don't know the stats but I can guess that there aren't too many other NHL team who have drafted MORE Quebec born players over the same time frame.

Plus all the other who received professionnal contracts and all those invited to the CH rookie camp.

9 players on 47, since 2003... then, Montreal Canadiens draft 19% players from Q...

Good post.

IMO,
McDonagh >>> Perron + Esposito
Pacioretty >>> Perron + Esposito

So glad Perron, Esposito are not in the HABS' organization.

I'm not saying every single HAB fan, but...sometimes I don't understand some HAB fans who are still coming here to complain?!? .
We finally have a great, entertaining team that can win and the future looks soooo bright...why complain? (I'm still ecstatic that the Mario Tremblay/Rejean Houle days are long gone, those were long/pathetic/miserable years).

Here's to Gainey/Timmins/Carbo/Muller/Jarvis...

And...Gainey just picked up Alex Tanguay, yet people still want to complain about Timmins drafting too many Americans and not enough Quebecois.
Slovenia, USA, Canada, Finland, Russia...I don't care, as long as that player was/is the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE at the draft.

And, as for Americans...I wouldn't mind if Timmins drafted another bunch like this:
Komisarek, Higgins, McDonagh, Pacioretty...

Here's to Timmins , we're lucky to have him, and some of you (not all of you) don't deserve a great mastermind scout like Timmins. I like EVERY player drafted by Timmins and our scouts, and from what I've read/heard the only one I'm a bit surprised about is that 6'8 goalie (sorry, forgot how to spell the name), but you know what? I trust Timmins...Timmins must have seen potential in him, so...

I really don't get it? Bouillon, Begin, Lapierre, Latendresse, Brisebois...yet we don't have enough Quebecois?!! the world is not just Canadian/Canadien/Quebecois...give me a Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Franzen, Kopitar, or a young Chelios anyday! American, Swedish, Quebecois...as long as he has character/heart, talent and can help the CH win he can wear the CH, I know I'll welcome him!).

BTW, I'd take Lecavalier and/or a healthy Patrice Bergeron anyday (they'd look great wearing the CH), but what can we do? Lecavalier might sign a 10 year contract with Tampa soon, and...we should be happy to have Tanguay for a late First round pick (not bad at all). It's not the first time we get a Quebecois player via trade/UFA(Denis Savard for Chelios, ___?__ for Audette...). I hope Tanguay works out for us, I'm quite positive...(+ the worst is it doesn't work out and ends up UFA right after...).

Bottom line...was Timmins hired to satisfy RDS, Journal de Montreal, La Presse, Allo Police, and the HAB fans who have the "draft EVERY Quebecois possible in the Draft!" mentality?, or...go with (drafting) the players who he thinks can make winners out of Les Canadiens/HABS one day?

Go HABS Go!!

Let's just imagine that the guys are sitting around the Montreal table on draft day and they read dumb comments about "who to draft from where" on HFboards.

I can see them all discussing and saying things like:

We have to pick a Canadian. What province? Better make it Quebec. What City? Gee better make it Montreal. But what about Hab fans that aren't from Montreal? Get out the demographics on the fanbase and throw those stupid player reports and scouting reports away. We got a geographer on staff? Get one quick! We are going to get this pick right if it kills us. Oh and by the way check if the kid can play hockey too.
