You guys are the dream team of the NHL! Everyone wants to play there, even more so than the Pens! I'm very envious. What's your personal cap? 400 million?

One player wanting to play for the Rangers is one more than would want to play for the Devils -- zing?

You should be envious. If we had a brand new arena, it would not be empty.

Yet 23 play for them, and win multiple Stanley Cups from homegrown talent, not Edmonton grown talent

Those 23 have to, the other rosters will filled up. It's not by choice.... it was their only remaining choice. Zing?

The Devils have 3 cups, Rangers have 4.....zing again?

Devils have been around 27 years, that's 3 cups every 9 years. The Rangers have 4 in 83 years and 3 of those were when there were only 6 teams. That's 1 every 20.75 years.......zing.

PS: Brodeur, Elias, Gionta, Stevens......all wanted to stay in New Jersey. There's obviously a bigger list of people that didn't, but players will play here.

Didn't you draft all those players, except Stevens? Try again.

Nice math too by the way. Grade school will be a breeze for you.

I meant to say 1 every 9 years. And I'm not trolling, it's no different than anything you guys say on our boards.

Yes we drafted those players, but they could have left, and they didn't. Our debate was that no-one willingly will stay with the Devils, and I gave you examples of guys that could have left when they had the chance and they STAYED. Try again.

Lets see:

Brodeur
Weekes

Martin
Oduya
White

Parise
Langenbrunner
Zajac
Elias
Gionta
Zubrus
Madden
Pandolfo

That's about it, 13. 10 of them, I don't want them on my team, yet here they are.

Also, the New Jersey Devils have been around for 34 years. The franchise, as a whole, existed for 34 years back when they were the Kansas Scouts.

To sit there and re-write history and pretend that the franchise, as a whole, only existed for 20 some odd years is revisionist at best.

You could put Joe Schmoo in at back-up. Weekes doesn't count. He's not a player. He's a placeholder.

Those teams were the skid marks on the underpants of society. The Scouts and Rockies. I'm talking about Devils history, but fine you want to stretch it back another 7 years that's 1 Cup every 11.33333333333333333. Plus they won 1 Stanley Cup when they had a 1 in 26 chance to win it, and 2 when it was 1 in 30. Nevermind the fact the Rangers won 3 of their cups when their chance was 1 out of 6 teams, their competition was FIVE teams, consider the fact that 16 make the playoffs now. I'm not too familiar, but was EVERYONE in the playoffs in the Original 6 era? It's not like they would have had to fight through a regular season grind just to try and make the playoffs and then try and win.

Anyways, why is it at this? The fact is every FA, you're not going to sign them, which was my point all along.

Hey, DF -- I'm just acting like your resident jerk Muttley to ya. Giving Devils fans the nastiness any Rangers poster can expect on your board.

But you DO have to consider the teams history in Colorado and Kansas City. It simply wouldn't be fair.

There's not a single Rangers fan out there that feels we can sign any free agent we want. To say that is clearly trolling for the sake of trolling, dude. Even the most diligent of homers realizes that there is at least a salary cap out there.

But, fact of the matter, we do probably have a better chance at signing certain players than small market teams or even our other local teams -- the Devils and Islanders.

NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports the Dallas Stars could be a potential destination for Sean Avery if he's not re-signed by the Rangers, sources suggest the Penguins are prepared $7.5 million per season and are trying to re-sign Brooks Orpik but $3.3 million per season won't be enough, there's a strong belief Bryan McCabe could waive his movement clause if the Islanders express interest which they're apparently planning to do in the next three weeks, Miro Satan could be an option for the Rangers if they fail to land the UFA forwards they're interested in, and Brian Rolston could be of interest to the Rangers if he fails to re-sign with the Wild.

The Campbell stuff toward the top of the link, and being discussed in "offseason rumor/trade" thread.....interesting reads for an easy sunday morning.

Good lord, Ott and Avery

I would go for Satan and Rolston, totally fine with that combo for this yr with Jagr back and I hope Avery

Maybe he's some inside fashion info from his internship; the rise of urban cowboy fashion. Or he's got his eye on Jessica Simpson?

I think the Kelly signing in Ottawa helps the Rangers

Avery needs to accept 2.75 and shut up if he really likes NY........go with Jagr for 5 plus bonuses and then bring in Rolston and Satan

Vrbata would be good too but depends how much

Satan, Dubinsky, Jagr
Dawes, Gomez, Rolston
Prucha, Drury, Callahan
Sjostrom, Betts, Moore ,Orr, Jamtin

Then go with Hainsey and Orpik on D

Staal , Orpik
Tyuyin, Girardi
Backman, Hainsey
Potter

Lundqvist
Valliquette

I like the roster but switch hainsey with Liles and Satan with Avery

Avery-Dubinsky-Jagr
Rolston-Gomez-Dawes
Callahan-Drury-Korpikoski/Prucha
Sjstrom-Betts-Orr/Korpikoski/Prucha/Byers

Staal-Liles
Orpik-Tyutin
Girardi-Backman/Potter

Lundqvist
