I was hoping for Dalpe with Ness off the board, but this is still a good pick from what I have read about him.
Definitely sounds like Bourdon Lite. He has the ability to dish out hits, but doesn't do it often enough. He has a big shot, but his passing isn't great. His decision making is poor, whereas Bourdon's was well average.

A couple of thoughts from a Sea Dogs fan:

He is not afraid to lay the body (read: He likes to hit people)

He hits too many shin pads (He still has a cannon for a shot)

He knows his biggest weaknesses and wants to improve on them (decision-making on the point, and all-around play-making)

Luc Bourdon is actually a very good comparable of Yann's upside if he gets things together. His stats didn't show his full ability as he was taken off the PP altogether after about 5 games and not put back on until the end of the season.

Saint John has other defensemen, but Yann and Alex Grant (Pittsburgh) are our number 1 pairing, and they were responsible for shutting down the likes of Chris Doyle and Matthieu Perreault (who will probably play for Hershey next year). While CSB has him as a shutdown d-man, his shot will always give him the potential to be 2-way, and his 5-on-5 pinching was actually pretty good (he just often shoot earlier than he had to).
