Did anyone else manage to hear it? I caught the bulk of it, not bad.
It was pretty pedestrian on the whole, they went easy on him...except for some good natured ribbing about what he wanted to spend his bonus money on. Poor JDD, at first he said he wasn't thinking much about the money but after some prodding he said he might look at a car or something.
He tried hard, but his english isn't that great yet. Seems like a decent kid. One interesting note was that when asked about what style of goalie he tried to study and emulate, the first name he brought up was Hasek.
Hope he stays away from the Vipers, and gets himself a nice safe Grand Caravan.
Didn't hear it, hopefully it gets replayed on Total Sports tonight.
Interesting that he said Hasek because he doesn't play anything like it from what I've seen. Much more traditional butterfly goalie than that to me.
His English isn't great yet but... it's a hell of a lot better then my French. I interviewed him after the Oiler rookie / UofA Golden Bears game last fall. Very nice kid, I couldn't be happier that this deal got done. In my opinion in was critical for moving the team forward, not having a 20 year old goalie in the system (with possible starting potential) would have set the team back two more years.
Ya, we made it a very simple interview today because his English isn't all that good. He hung in there pretty well though. But all his English has been picked up from casual conversations with people while he was on holidays. No schooling at all. We just tried to keep it simple for him to understand.
As an aside ...
Who do you think would win in an alley fight between Bryn and Jake?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
This is how I'd see it go down...it'd be like Homer vs. Bart's pretend dad.
A total knock down, rolling in the dirt catfight...Jake would ragdoll Bryn around and call him Susan repeatedly, leaving Bryn blubbering and begging for mercy. As Jake looked on in disgust, Bryn would point behind him and play the "Look, an Oiler fan wearing a Flames jersey!" card.
Jake turns around, Bryn takes advantage and punks him out with a chairshot. Game fricking over.
For Bryn, the straightest road to success was through the mud.
