OT - Mike and The Mad Dog Splitting Up

Crazy if it's true. That would be two HUGE hits for WFAN in such a short time. First Imus, now this.

It was no secret that Don Imus & Charles MaCord was the mediating & claming infulence between Fatso & Fruitloops, since mus left the FAN tensions have increased & are @ a breaking point.

I would be so happy if they were replaced by someone who actually knows hockey.

Condescending listeners wouldn't last forever. The dictatorship sports talk style worked in the 90s and early 00's, but I think people are getting tired of being told what to think.

This is a great opportunity to bring in someone new and reinvent sports talk radio.

This is just the first step in WFAN converting to a 24/7 Steve Sommers format. In fact, he is probably behind the break-up.

Could we possibly get afternoon talk about hockey now??? Not gonna miss those two talking about everything possible not to include hockey. Mikes condescending replies when criticised about it from fans is always "well maybe if the NHL got better ratings we would talk about it more". Smug *****... Chris just flat out doesn't like the game, but at least puts in a little effort when he has too.

Especially won't miss fat boy, who uses blanket sports cliches to cover his complete lack of knowledge about the N.Y Rangers and the goings on in the NHL.

I guarantee if you walk up to Mike on the street (or in a fast food place...Probably have a better chance there) and ask him who the Rangers picked in the first round this year, or any year for that matter, he wouldn't have a clue..... but ask him who the Jacksonville Jaguars picked in the 5th round of 2002 draft and he'll spew everything from his 40yd dash to the what job his mothers father brother had in 1971.

Good riddance.......

I don't believe that both of them "would have no trouble getting another lucrative job" Without each other they are both pretty boring. Not to say that together they're riveting.

Russo maybe, but Francessa is one of the most knowledgable people in sports media, especially when it comes to baseball and college football.

This blows. I love Mike and the Mad Dog.

What he lacks for in knowledge Russo makes up for in personality. What he lacks in personality, Francessca makes up for in knowledge.

I'm not a big fan of the show, but I would really think that over a prolong period either one of them by themselves would be unlistenable.

Yeah, but I'm sure that if they do move on, they'd be paired again with partners who complement them. There are very few radio shows that consist of simply one person. It wouldn't be hard to find another suitable partner for either guy, especially Francessa.

Based on Russo's intro today that would appear to be the case. Could be looking at some lazy and/or irresponsible reporting.

What business is that? Explaining to lonely guys that trading Giambi for Pujols or the Knicks trading their whole team for Kobe isnt possible?

Well if you are attacking talk radio itself, fine.

But these guys are the best at what they do.

I don't listen to them except for the Monday's during football season and during the NFL playoffs when they play the Super Bowl Trivia with Russo posing as the Marquee de Sade. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of either of them but it sounds like Russo might be the one to stay on because he's got less of a career elsewhere. Fatcessa has his Miked Up gig plus he could be given additional work on Sunday Night Football as an analyst.
