It's a good deal when you consider people were speculating he'd get a sheet for 5.5 - 6.
The only thing Weber has in common with Pronger is they both play defense...

Pronger at his age was at times a dominent player..somebody that could be traded for brendan shanahan in his prime and nobody would blink an eye at it.

i think weber is good but overrated because he is 23 and younger almost ALWAYS means better here..

well maybe you would success by making an extremly front-laden offer sheet to someone from a financially rather problematic team that way you could still have a reasonable cap hit, but they won't be able to match

Im also not ready to see NYR lose4 or 5 first rounders or whatever, a couple waste and bad idea and pointless thread.Which isnt even something to think about.
Malkin isn't a RFA but if he was the rangers would be nuts not to try to sign him to an offer sheet.

lets put it in perspective...could the rangers trade sanguinetti, del zotto, cherapanov, and Korpikowski for Malkin? would wouldn't make that trade here?

If Malkin wins ONE cup here he would be worth the money, picks, and everything else....

I said he was of the Pronger mold, not that he was a 'young Chris Pronger.' He hits, plays well defensively and can score goals with a huge point shot. That's Pronger's style in a nut-shell, but I did mention he was a few notches below in terms of skill.

I think Prongers is the wrong comparison..i don't think he is in the "Pronger mold", but to each his own...

And exactly how high are those picks coming from a team with Malkin? 22? 26? It's not like they'll have a shot at a Tavares or a Stampkos with that extra pick.

And then trade one of Tyutin, Girardi, Sanguinetti for some offensive help?

Maybe.

I don't think getting a defenseman via an offer sheet is an automatic goodbye for any of the names you mentioned.
