I disagree Go Habs Go.

Sundin has stayed loyal thru all years, listening to in and outgoing coaches/GMs promising him some firstline bonafide wingers and all they have dragged to him is old guys with bad backs, talentless journeymen or lanky useless Russians. Mogilny might be the bright spot here, but he was banged up as well.

So Mats has stayed put and played, hoping for the best and a change. But all what happened was losing. Who stood there, facing the microphones? Yes Mats. He has never ducked facing the failure, a failure pretty much caused by an useless owner group and Quinn.

He owe Leafs nation nada, absolute nada. Why should he waive the notrade clause when they more or less stabbed his back? He stuck up for the ties for a decade but when he needed someone to stick up for him, they just banged the knife even deepr into the back.

To state Mats owe someone something does not know what he is speaking about. He owes himself alot though.

You don't think he'll leave a sour taste in the mouths of Toronto fans if he chooses to join their arch enemy, Montreal?

Leafs fans getting sour over Mats no matter what he opts to do, are not real fans.

Sundin to rangers? Why should he go from one bad org. to another?

Haha, wouldn't have expected anything less from TheDamned. Expressing an opinion as fact in the face of largely contradictory evidence. Keep up the good work!

The NHL is not run that way.

The League would not stand back and simply allowing tampering to happen - in an extremely public way, with both GM's admitting to the press it was happening. I assure you, the league was informed of this arrangement before a phone call was made by the Canadiens. And in order for Mats Sundin to be fielding a phone call from Bob Gainey, he would have to grant his personal permission. That would be a clear violation of the CBA and the standard player contract.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Anyway I think the leaf fans would rather he retire now then play with an other team...compensation or not.

The latest from Eklund...Rumour....Rangers Have Permission to Talk to Sundin as Well?

On draft day Fletcher specifically said on camera "The Canadiens have exclusive rights to sign Sundin prior to July 1"

Swear to God this guy just listens to radio shows and spits out BS all day.
