Then he'll definitely fill that out again with muscle.

Big kid for just turning 18.

Bobby Sanguinetti looked good, but as he said himself, he had "hands of stone" after months off the ice. He and Del Zotto looked very good together though. Both have excellent on-ice vision.

I spoke to Hillier at length and he told me that he had played with his hernia all year, and that it had not gotten better. He tried a shot on Sunday to ease some, and will see how it goes later in the week. If this does not work, he has to have surgery to repair it, and then he expects that it will take 3-4 weeks before he can play.

Many of the tryout guys were extremely nervous, so take what ever writers say about them with a grain of salt. Many could not even hit the net. That's often nerves, which will dissipate as the week moves along and the guys are involved in more and more scrimmages.

Scrimmages were interesting, run by Kenny Gernander, 5 on 5, 4 on 4, and even for a short time 3 on 3.

More toward the end of the week.
Thx Leslie

Thats what I see too. Bobby Sangs looked a bit winded. Reminds me of Ryan Whitney, same type of Dman.

I really like what I see from Del Z, he wouldve gone top 10 if he was 6'3.

Stepan looks ok, still a boy in a mans world, he'll need that college experience. Looks more like a playmaker than a goalscorer.

No problems with Anisimov, looks like he's using that size to bull his way through defenders on the rush, I like it.

does anyone know if anisimov and sanguinetti are good freinds?.....i heard a story(i dont rememeber from who) that they were hanging during the playoffs at MSG before one of the games and i noticed the video of sangs that they were kinda fooling around on the ice together...if so thats great!! because its always better to feel comfortable if you have a good friend on the same team

I think some of you might be projecting a little too much into these short video clips...

There's really no way at all you can tell if a guy is a play maker or a scorer based on 1:30 of practice video from a mediocre angle. Hell, it's not even a real practice.

Ok, so from that video, he looks more like a playmaker. Happy?

No. You call someone out in another thread about making inferences from these videos, then you do it yourself in this thread.

We saw a short clip of the guy doing some drills. Not a lot to go on. I'd rather see a fair amount of game footage before I decide what kind of player he seems to be. About all we can see is that he's pretty quick, pretty good skater, and seems to drive to the net (though even that is hard to say for sure in such a limited viewing). These are all characteristics that are shared among a wide variety of hockey players.

Really? IMO he didn't look very balanaced on his skates at times. He looked pretty unimpressive overall. But thats just from 1 minute of footage and he probably hasn't skated in awhile.

I knew you were gonna bring it up. Now i have to explain to you why....

I'm talking skillset. You can tell what he's utilizing in that video. HOWEVER, you can't rightfully say that he's 'keeping up with the pro game' from that video. How hard is this to comprehend??

I'm kinda pissed that the Devils don't have one of these. I think it'd be alot of fun to watch.

Having seen Hartford play the Lowell Devils 8 times last season, there are so many good potential responses to this... but none of them are very nice, so I'll be good.

(I'm just having fun with ya.)

I realize it's only a minute's worth of crumby video shot at a poor angle, but my initial reaction is that he makes Anisimov look like a speed skater.

Notables who are missing: Alexei Cherepanov and the two European draftees from this year, Grachev and Kundratek.

Mike Taylor came to the Pack on a tryout after his college season was up last season, and did pretty well.
Grachev just got his visa - he will be in Camp...

You may ask, but I won't reveal... You gonna have to trust me on this one... or not... Either way - Grachev will be in camp and he will be playing in NA this year... No need to speculate on this!

I've read enough of your posts in other Russian-related threads that I actually do trust you (on the camp thing, anyway). But I was still hoping for a link or something more concrete.
