yes he is rangers property...he just graduated so the rangers have till june 1, 2005 to sign him before they lose his rights (although he'll probably either be signed this summer or released)...

he was hurt this year for a big stretch, but i see no reason why he won't be signed although he could end up starting in charlotte if there is a lockout since that would force so many guys back to hartford

Martz played 30 games for UNH this past season, scoring 26 points (5G, 21A). I guess the best way to describe him would be "defensive forward". He plays both ends of the ice well. Good skater and has no trouble finding the net. This past season he battled through injury as well as was one of 8 UNH players suspended following the riot in downtown Durham that resulted from the Red Sox loss in last season's ALCS.

I'm not much of a Martz fan, he really benefitted from playing with Saviano in NH and that's the reason for all the assists...he's slowish and not overly physical...Charlotte would be a good place for him to start his pro career IMO.

Hate to say it, but I don't see him making the NHL in his best season.

who? Martz? Martz has never even been on my radar, I never thought much of him since he was drafted.

Now, that doesn't help your case! No way to compare the two... Marek is actually pretty good. His age was against him in the draft last year.
