It's been reported that Wellwood has never been a fan of working out. I believe even his father was quoted in a toronto newspaper as saying so.

He's not fat guys, he just has a beer gut. The majority of this board looks like that if not worse.

The majority of this board does not get paid boat loads of money to play hockey.

Maybe but the majority of this board isn't under contract to play professional hockey. No excuse to let yourself get that fat when you're an athlete, even with an injury.

He came into camp out of shape last season as well though. The kid's lack of a work ethic is well documented.

I work out pretty often and if I stopped for even just a few weeks I'd get like that. And I would lose the gut equally as fast too.

I have no doubts you would. But since Wellwood isn't known for having the same type of work ethic as you do WD. The chances of him losing the gut quickly are probably quite slim *no pun intended*.

Stupid

everyone has always known Wellwood is out of shape however he is an immensely talented and skilled guy ... who makes everyone on his line better... he's what 25? and last year the guy had not 1 but 2 groin/hernia operations ... an operation which takes a lot of time (like a calendar year from my personal experience of rupturing my groin, to return to normal).

Atlanta should grab him and play him with Kovalchuk but theyre not so sharp so prob wont happen

For Wellwood, Kyle should get his act together and train for 2-3 months with a top trainer like Peter Twist or the guys in LA during the summer that Chelios, Drury, Blake etc etc train with ... why blow your real meal ticket for a few quarter pounders its dumb hes a guy who in the right scenario is as good as Marc Savard who canks $5M a year

I wonder why Wellwood was not traded?

Plus if no teams are interested, let him go to RFA and low-ball him. He goes to arbitration, Leafs refuse the amount, Wellwood becomes UFA, sign with somebody else.

Of course she does, but being a life guard his life is the one in most danger around the swimming pool considering that broken leg of his combined with a huge beer gut and the two would unquestionably sink him the very moment he tries to go for a swim.

Don't you know anything? This is how you rebuild. Just follow these 5 simple steps:

#1 Alienate your best player/longest serving Captain. A must. Use the media if you have to.

#2 Repeat step 1 with other marketable players on your roster. If they won't lift their No Trade Clauses, might as well make life as difficult as possible for them. Maybe you will get lucky and they will jump off a bridge.

#3 Trade decent draft pics for 3rd/4th liners with a career +/- of minus-78

#4 Trade even more decent draft picks to move up 2 spots to take a "stay at home D" with the upside of Hal Gill. "Quality over quantity" -Fletcher 2008 entry Draft

#5 Let any other tradable assets go without compensation. What good are draft picks?.. Oh wait.

And there you have it. 5 easy steps to rebuilding.

Read her ass, she's the life guard, she's making sure he doesn't go swimming so she doesn't need to see a chiropractor after lifting him out of the pool.

Honestly, I don't have much of a work ethic. I work out maybe 4-5 times a week and I take protein supplements...That's it. If this guy does less than that then he couldn't possibly be playing hockey.

This move isn't as bad as everyone says, if they were sure they weren't bringing him back, the most risk-free way to do it is not to qualify him.

Remember Ribero a few years back ? Gainey gave him a contract and tried to trade him all summer, but could only get a negative value back in Niinnima for him. Looking back at the situation, it would have made more sense for Gainey not to qualify him and spend Ninny's money on a much better UFA.

If the Habs have been a better team without Ribs, then the Leafs can be a better team with Wellwood. And like Ribero, I think he'll mature an improve once he lands somewhere else.

The problem is that's how he looks all year long.
I know people that still keep in touch and they all said he never works out.

And I'm trying not to brag, but I broke my left fibula once and I still managed to go to the gym 5 days a week. Sure, cardio was out, but I could still do crunches and pretty much every upper-body workout.

He's lazy and he's fat.

Honestly, i don't have much money. I got about 4-5 millions and i have a few real estate here and there...that's it. If you get even half of that maybe you could get season tickets in the reds.
