Every team would want Perry. We would have to give up a lot for him though. Probably too much.

If we bring Tucker to the team i'll be pissed. That's definitely a step in the wrong direction if Avery walks. If Avery leaves, go youthful, not to a veteran like Tucker whose on the decline in his performance.

A note from Zipay on Matt Cooke:

Quote:
One Blue Notes reader who watched him regularly after his trade from Vancouver to Washington is singing the praises of LW Matt Cooke (UFA, 29, $1.5 mil, 10-13, 91 PIMS last season) as a potential replacement for Avery if Sean and the club can't see eye to eye.
Yes, this brings rumor and speculation to an Eklund level, but why not? Especially if the team feels that we need at least one veteran grit guy.

Yes, he's not anywhere close to Avery in a lot of ways, but he could fill a role, and he's relatively cheap.

Cooke wouldn't look too bad...

on a third line with Dubi and Cally, to be honest with you. Of course, who are the second line and top line right wingers and who's the left winger on the top line? But then again, perhaps Prucha gets another chance with Dubi and Cally, which doesn't cost the team anything extra, and the Rangers are then only looking for a top line left winger, and top and second line right wingers.

No. Tucker sucks and is nothing but on the decline towards fizzling out in the league. Sather is being smart for once here, Avery wants to be some kind of a fashion model and that involves, typically, being in new york. Unless he can convince LA to sign him, there's not much else he can do. If Avery wants $4 million, go find it elsewhere, or sign for $2.5-3 in the city you want to be in. It's his choice and Glen is not crying either way--and neither am I.

I dont think Carcillo was even with the Phoenix orginization when they made the video, but that was epic. Carcillo is one of the players i covet from the Yotes, as well as Turris, Mueller, Doan, and Jovo.

We have about 10 or so player like Matt Cooke on the way, that signing is one that would take a spot away from a young guy. We need to get Avery resigned plain and simple.

QFT Instead of talking about how we could replace Avery we need to be asking ourselves why this situation sprung in the first place? He needs to be back.

In case you missed it, Avery wants more than the Rangers are willing to give. By all accounts, neither side is budging. Avery, no matter what the mancrushers believe, is a 3rd line wing getting 2nd line time on a team that doesn't have enough 2nd line+wingers. He's worth $3 - $3.25MM per for 2 -3 seasons and that's it.

Assuming he is gone, what youngster do we have that has the grit and veteran savvy to make opposing players think twice before starting something? Unfortunately, we do not have all the necessary pieces in Hartford, and we will have to sign at least one winger.

I agree with you here. I understand the money issue, and I think Avery is worth anything up to 3.5 mil, after that yes it's time to part ways, but Darcy Tucker is not the answer. Who knows, maybe this Jamtin guy is, we'll just have to see.

Also take in to account how many teams are going to post up 4 mil for Avery? Probably not many. Maybe he'll come back at 3.5. July 1st is going to be a fun day that's all I know.

if avery gets 4 million from another team(which i hope he doesnt) i wouldnt mind adding cooke....although i still really like the idea of trading prucha for torres as i think he is the better player and has produced in the playoffs

We already have that in Prucha minus the fighting part. I would rather overpay for resigning Avery.
