Tucker played
2007-2008 -74 games last year
2006-2007 -56 games
2005-2006 74 games

Roberts

38 games 2007-2008
69 games 2006-2007
58 games 2005-2006

To be honest I would take Tucker over Roberts but would prefer if neither were a Hab.

Tell him that the bus leaves 30 minutes later than it actually does every game. Put him on waivers. Send him out to pasture. There are lots of options that, most crucially, keep him off of the ice in a Habs uniform.

But, that situation will never arise, and you'll still be hard pressed to find a sane person who thinks Tucker would be a positive addition to the Montreal Canadiens any time in the future.

why is it that every bottom rung hanging NHL has been that becomes available is desired by someone on this board?

Where is the Recchi thread, that can't be far off can it?

This is Darcy f_ing Tucker, a player that can't be sent packing quick enough by the fans that watched him every night last year.

This isn't Jagr, this is Darcy Tucker. Unless we need a crash test dummy for Komisarek's checking practice, this is a ridiculous thread.

That's less likely than Tucker reaching 30 goals this season.
Sundin's negotiation will be separate and on it's own, Gainey will give Sundin about 18million reasons to sign with Montreal, if that's not good enough, then some other team got themselves a great player and a leg up on our team.

I'd love to inject some grit and intensity in this team too,but Tucker is not a useful and wanted commodity here. He's certainly not a necessity for us.

Exactly. Why are people lauding Tucker's toughness and grit? The reason he just got bought out was because both of these elements are disappearing from his game more and more every season. I haven't seen Tucker play with "the edge" that he played well with in Toronto for a few years now. He doesn't hit near as much, or near as successfully as he used to. His fighting, never really a strong-point (remember, Chad Kilger one-punched him) has become an embarrassment. Tucker had four fights last season. He lost soundly to Avery, Carcillo and Ruutu. The only fight he faired well in was against our own Josh Gorges; who we know is not exactly He-Man. Defensive play and blocking shots has never been a specialty of his, and he certainly didn't pick up that aspect of his play last season.

In summary, his hitting/physical play is diminishing. His fighting is terrible at best. He doesn't kill penalties or play well in his own end. How is he an ideal gritty or physical player? If he was, why would the 7th worst team in the league send him packing for nothing?

afew posts mentionned him at C. The days of him playing C in the NHL are long gone.

Smart pick up by the Canucks. They are starved for offence and it basically costs them nothing to take a chance.

I really don't see Tucker being a very good fit with our team. Obviously we are outsiders to it all but if I had to guess I don't see his personality messing with Kovalev, Koivu, Higgins, Kostitsyns etc. The Habs seem to have a very laid back dressing room and I don't know if Tucker could fit in that dynamic.

I wish I was in a place where female life guards wear shorts with "Life Guard" written on their bum.

Yeah, I have a shirt that says Porn Star, so by your reasoning I'm John Holmes. I used to date a Lifeguard met dozens of them when I was going out with her, and I've never seen one that dresses like that. I think its more the case of a girl wearing shorts that say lifeguard than the girl actually being one.

Besides, the guy looks more out of shape to me than anything. I've had a few injuries where I had limited mobility and no matter how in shape I was before, I always put on several pounds afterwards. This guy can easilly get back to game-ready shape in 6-8 weeks with the right training regiment.
