As I said in the Admiral thread:

"Another asset bites the dust, and another one's gone, and another one's gone, another asset bites the dust...."

Possibly. He had a good skill set and could've really helped the power play, but we do/did have 8 defensemen ahead of him.

Surprising Nashville didn't trade him since there are lot of teams looking for d-men. Especially guys who could play the pp. What a waste. I was hoping to see this guy get a shot in the NHL. Too bad. Guess we'll never know.

Seems like an insurance policy for Philadelphia. Is he a capable NHL defenseman or more of a serviceable call-up type?

It's tough to say, he's never played in the NHL. I think he could be a decent offensive d-man, but he'd never have had a chance here.

You won't be getting him unless Philly offers him a one way deal. Otherwise he is off to Russia.

Think Timonen jr. Excellent skater, good point shot. Offensive d-man, rather small.

we have a few of those ... Blum, Hamhuis & Klein fit the not so big stature description ... does Excellent skater equate to being soft ?

Grant? He sounds like a slightly bigger, scrappier version of Smithson...

Grant isn't a heavy but he looks like a decent fighter, he just doesn't do so well against the true enforcers. Smithson gets smoked by european wingers, the only worse fighter on the team would be Fiddler.

Grant might end up being our version of Jamal Mayers. Scrappy but not a true "fighter"
