OT: Don Maloney rebuilding the Yotes

Have to say he's made some impressive moves and its not even July 1st.

Would be nice to see him help get the Yotes to the playoffs this year.

Maybe rebuild is not the correct term.

Maloney has done an excellent job. If he makes some good FA signings on defense, he'll look like a genius.

I love our kids and I understand the merits of bringing them along slowly by letting them spend time in the minors. But I gotta say I'm kinda jealous of the Coyotes and what Maloney's doing out there. They should be a very exciting team to watch this year.

He's going to have one hell of a team this year. Lots of young talent and veteran leadership. Great goaltending as well, I'd imagine Monty will get a chance to backup Bryzgalov this year.

I'd imagine he'll make one big splash in the FA market for a d-man after the Jokinen trade.

He had a great draft day for sure.

Getting that Boedker kid, Tikhonov, and Stall... not bad.

Throw in Jokinen for what I think wasnt a fair return for the Panthers...

Great day for them.

I think we may be getting a hint of the real brains behind the Rangers recent success.

Will be interesting to see how the next few years play out, for the Rangers and Coyotes.

Could be very revealing.

I think Slats is his biggest fan right now. Basicly handing him Montoya.

Certainly possible, but I don't know what their cap situation is like.

Yeah I'm not so sure I like the way Slats is handing over the guys Maloney really liked while he was here. Bourret went there as well, right?

Makes me secretly hope that Carcillio will come our way for nothing.

Almost at the cap floor. They can afford to sign Redden and then some.

Like Chariot posted,Donny just traded a 5th rounder and added Brian McGratton. This team won't get pushed around either.

Maloney has made some good moves, but not anything that makes me think "wow, the Rangers are screwed without this guy".

We'll find out in less than a week if Slats starts handing out big contracts like candy again.

He'll hand out big contracts if it fills a need on the team. I don't have a problem with signing FAs in general, especially if they fill a hole that you can't fill otherwise.

I doubt Maloney had any real influence on whether or not Sather would spend a lot of money on FAs

They are at the cap floor by choice. Franchise is bleeding money.

I think the rebuilding got started before Maloney came in.

They did have a good draft, I hear that Staal kid may surprise

Getting Bryzgalov & now Jokinen - good moves.
