Would Zherdev be on the team if he hasn't had trouble with the federation? This was asked by someone on another board, and I just want to have your oppinion about it. I'm sure he wouldn't have made it, but I'd like to hear from you..
Last week Sovetsky Sport contacted his agent who declared that Zherdev would have been glad to be selected. But I don't think they even considered him for the team simply because he's not good enough, just check out how he played at the 2003 WJC.
I agree on that. He will make the team, he will be ready for Torino probably. I really hope that the scandal wont affect on his future as a national team player... Otherwise...
If you compare Zherdev's stats to the other NHLers on team Russia, he is having better or similar numbers than most of our team. Only Fedorov, Kovalchuk and Datsyuk clearly had a better year than Zherdev did, so there is no way you can say that he's not good enough for this team.
Zherdev is clearly a great talent but i dont think he is ready for the WC yet. he is a talented guy so he would have had to play on the first two lines, not on a checking line. but those two lines have way too much talent on them to fit this guy in...he needs more experience and time.
