I don't mind that... but no more NHL deals for him.... If he's on an AHL deal and some NHL team decides to swipe him... thats fine with me. He can't even play a regular shift in the ECHL without being a liability out there.

I'm still rather confused with the Habs direction when it comes to Locke. Are they still hoping he may make the NHL? Or are they keeping him around just for Hamilton or trade bait?

I think Locke is being kept around as a veteran for Hamilton... You can't go with all first and second year players there.... He'll be a leader there if he wants to come back...

And he can be an emergency call up if he's playing well and we have injuries.

I would keep him as 13/14th forward in Montreal

Qualifying Locke came as a bit of a shocker; I was so sure his time was up in Montreal. The others, not so much.

I think he's one of those players in any system, an example would be Jody Gage with Buffalo, that you have to keep around even if they never make it to the NHL because they were told their role and made the best of it.

I think it's a classy move and IMO he's earned it. I can not ever remember him crying about minutes or promotion... even with the "missing equipment" this year when he was called up.

Extra : Locke, Bégin, Dandenault (Could be our 7th D and an extra forward at the same time if he is still with the team)

Well, I can see your point, sorta surprised Locke doesn't try his hand in a European league then though. I mean, if he ain't going to make the big bucks here, he still might have a chance out there...
In any case, I'm glad they are trying to keep him as I do like him.

With all the cap space we have... we are signing someone.... probably a Centre.... but a FA defenceman is possible too (and that would mean Dandy is redundant).

I just don't see us being 8-10 million under the cap again... it doesn't make sense.

He has been offered a deal... he hasn't accepted it....

Its probably a two way contract similar to his last deal....

He could still try Europe.

None of these players are guaranteed to stick around... all this does is ensure we get the right to match + compensation if they sign somewhere else in the NHL.

True enough. Guess all we can do is wish him luck and hope for the best.

So how long before we get the usual complaints about a thread having Perezhogin's name, or cue the Perezhogin is only good for swinging his stick at players or why qualifiy Grabovski since he has no place on the team and he left the team so therefore he's a jerk.

ha, you called him a jerk.

Do Chipchura has to sign a new deal?

Maybe that's why BG didn't call him up.

Yes, I think he signed a two year deal in Finland. This just secures his rights...
