Sanguinetti 1 year.

Del Zotto 3 years.

I'd say.

Yes, a long time.

Hopefully who ever we sign doesn't get more years then that.

I want Jagr, Orpik and Campbell and don't resign anybody who is our own free agent. We'll be ok. I've given up on Avery. But if you can fit him after that, then great. PLEASE GOD PLEASE DON'T RESIGN ROSZIVAL! PLEASE!

yeah, I patiently await Sangs and DZ as well, but that's a separate issue. there's a need for a physical defenseman this coming season, those two offensive d prospects aren't really filling it.

Not to mention Sanguinetti is probably at least a year off, DZ closer to 3 or 4 I'd imagine.

I've got to think that at least a little part of him rejected the offer from Pittsburgh because he felt, a bit betrayed by the Pens when they went after Hossa before trying to lock him up.

He also may want to go home to Buffalo, or to Boston where he played College Hockey

4 mill is the most I go for Orpik.

He's not a proven shutdown defender, and he's been a 3rd pairing guy for nearly all of his career.

I get a bad vibe about this guy...

IMO, orpik doesnt want to go back to the pens.....he was benched last year for no good reason and then he has a good playoffs and shows he can play on a pairing with gonchar well and they all of a sudden want him back.....i think its more than a money issue in pitt

LMFAO.
He may not be that proven...but being the best pens Dman to help lead the team to the finals says a lot. Just knowing he steps his game up in keys times is huge.

And like i said...he's just coming into his prime years...that could be the turning point in his career...the guys is flowing with confidence right now and he deserves every penny he gets.

Would you rather have Backman...or sign Orpik to 4.5 million? Thats the real question. I'd take Orpik in a second, even for 4.5. He could be a huge part of our team for years. And a piece we have been looking for....for years.

Orpik is #1 on my list of UFAs...by far.

i would agree that he is #1 on my list......

#2 is a puck moving defenseman

#3 is a winger for gomez(not for dubi)

Absolutely 100% agree, the only person i want on the rangers as much as Orpik is Avery. I better get at least one of the 2, and both would be ideal.

Orpik is a type of player that we do NOT have in the organization so if we need to overpay to acquire him, we do. People need to get over money. Would they rather trade other assets to acquire a similar player who cost less money? No, you pay a little more, still have those assets to use to acquire something else you need.

.

Just want to toss this lil tidbit of Info out there.

If we are not prepared to overpay players during the UFA signing period, please do not expect to sign anyone of any value.

Unless a player is committed to signing with a particular team and is willing to give a discount, these guys will be looking for a decent payday.

We have to take into consideration that for alot of these guys it's their last chance at a huge payday because most of the contracts are going to be for 5-7 years which means this is going to take most of them beyond their prime years.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Yes, but some players are worth overpaying for, and some are not

That sounds like a Yogi Berra quote.

I say let's get Orpik. Worse case scenario he's at least going to use his body more than Malik did.

I also think that Orpik is better with the puck than some give him credit for. By the end of last year, he was doing some nice things on the rush. He still tends to throw it up the boards rather than spot the open guy, but that can be lived with if he can make some guys pay. Orpik has always made guys pay whether it be on the boards or open ice. Hopefully we'll get some opposing teams fearing to go into the corners.

When Pens fans don't want the guy back for $3 mill, that should raise some flags.

When the Pens brought in Hal Gill to be their physical defenseman, that should raise some flags

When Orpik was used as a left winger for awhile because of his poor play, that should raise some flags

He has all the earmarks of a FA flop
