Say what you want about me bashing Higgins once again, but 5 points in 12 playoffs games playing 18 minutes a game is just brutal.

As for Plekanec, he did play good in the Flyers series. He just wasn't there against the Bruins but you could see he was getting used to playoffs hockey in the second round.
I thought Komi and Markov showed a lot of guts, both guys were clearly not 100%(maybe 70-75%) but still played big minutes and always took the hit needed to make the play. You can say what you want about Markov but he's a tough kid, both Boston and Phillie ran at him all series, he could have pulled a Hasek and opted out but he kept battling...same for Komi against Lucic and Knuble.

There are many issues that caused our demise...an inexperienced team especially in nets, overall lack of experience(once they lost a game, they lost 2-3 straight) that hurt when things started going wrong. When they did not put away Boston in 5, guys like Streit Markov and Komi didn't get 4-5 days off to rest their injuries. Another factor was that they did not score enough garbage type goals, use guys like A.Kost and Lats near the net, that may also be as a result of a lack of experience.

Only Plan A makes sense, all the others are a waste of time now.Past their prime or won't fit in.

My Plan B would be STOLL as 3rd line C and HOSSA as a RW

Who are you trading to Edmonton....
How much are you paying Stoll as RFA??

Remember You have to fit both under the cap... and make the deal.....

remember beaker, the habs have the cap space
really the habs will sort that out, having people guessing on trades is extremely frustrating
this is just who people would go for
stoll is a nice fit, they are hurting against the cap while the habs aren't

we have some cap space.... but Hossa and the 8million a year it would take to sign him would eat up most of that very quickly.

Marleau is plan B i think. he makes slightly less than we'd offer Sundin. My guess is Sundin would be a 7.5-8 Mil dollar deal at least. marleau makes 6.3 for 2 years. With the remaining 1.7 M we can prob pursue a PP d-man. perhaps keeping streit? I don't know.

marleau's NTC kicks in on july 1st so we'd have to know far enough in advance for the trade to go down before that clause kicks in (assuming that he wouldnt waive it of course)

Not that much. You might be forgetting the RFAs we haven't signed yet. We don't know if it'll take 3m or 4m to sign Kost. Stoll would be in the 3m range I'd guess and Hossa in the 8+. We don't have the space for all 3.

Stoll would be the solution as the #3 center - able to play on a second line and on PP once in a while. Right hand shot. Pretty good on face-off. Big enough.

To get him, I would be willing to loose a guy like Chipchura or Maxwell.+ a pick.

If we don't sign Sundin.

Why not Yashin?? A big right-handed center......don't think one more Russian will kill our dressing room.

B Demitra
C Rolston
D Metropolit

I'm almost tempted to say I'd prefer Federov, but I highly doubt he'll end up leaving Washington.

I know we could always trade but only with UFA centers, what would be the next 4 options you would go for in order?

I would have to go with

Quote:
PlanB: Peter Forsberg (Less expensive than Sundin, even if he misses part of the season, we have enough depth)
PlanC: Bobby Holik (Good Shutdown guy that will provide some extra weight on the team)
PlanD: Sergei Fedorov (Getting old but might be a good fit with Kovy and Kostitsyns)
PlanE: Glen Metropolit (Seems to be a guy that's really tough to play against, not expensive and always liked the way the guy plays)

If we have depth why we looking for another guy

It's not the kind of depth that would beat Detroit.

Class A Options
A: Sundin (Number one Center)
B: Rolston (Hard Shot, can play PP and Pk, more suited to the wing but can play C)
C: Yashin (Can score, and will have better wingers here that he ever had in NYI)

Class B Options
D: Morrison (maybe able to put up 60 plus with good line mates)
E: Gratton (Big, Pysical, will drop gloves, minimal scoring but may get you 30 points on the 3rd line)
F: Fedorov (May be a last resort, may still have enough in the tank for one more)
