OT: Fishing around edmonton

So I promised a 10 year old and a 7 year old that I would take them fishing for the first time. Only problem is that I haven't fished around the city since I was a kid - are there any good small, stocked ponds for bringing kids to?

Kids have short attention spans - they need to catch fish or they get bored easily.

You need tiny hooks, light split shot weights, a bobber (slim ones with a spring lock) & a can of Green Giant kernel corn & a reel with 6 lb test...... I guarantee you stocked trout.

If you promise to keep both locations secret (I'm serious) & to only go there when you are taking the kids fishing - send me a PM........

the river is a great spot the boat launch under Mcnally school isnt a bad spot, I think the gold eye will still be around if they are have fun with them.

Morinville and Cardiff ponds are pretty reliable with bobber or sinker if the wind isnt to bad.

If you are close to hermatige pond its stocked its the easiest access but not the most reliable spot.

Beaumont has a stocked pond. We're only 10 minutes south of the city. There's also a wicked Spray Park that is right beside the pond that is great for the kids to cool down after/during fishing as it's gonna be a scorcher this weekend. Also there is a concession stand that is usually open and you can sometimes get beer and other refreshments etc.

Yeah just head south on 50th street till you hit Beaumont. Then take a right at the bottom of the hill when you go through town. It will take you to a school and in behind there is the spray park and the pond. Another way is to go right through town and then take a right at the Extra foods turn off that heads to Nisku. Then take your first right into Four Seasons housing development. Take that road straight and it leads to a parking lot that backs onto the spray park and the fishing pond.
