I think Grabovski is waiting to see what happens with Sundin. If Sundin signs, he likely goes home. If Sundin doesn't sign, Grabovski will stay.
He'd of already gone back to Russia if that was 100% his choice.
I don't think he can go without breaking his contract...if Russian teams start signing guys with NHL contracts, then all hell will break loose and they'll start losing guys like Yemelin to the NHL before their contracts are up.
I think when the dust settles, Gainey will trade him for a 3rd or 4th rounder.
IMO, Grabovski is out of the organization's plans. The guy has to get WAY more solid on his skates if he wants to play in the NHL. Also, he doesn't seem like a team player and I'm not sure that Carbo wants that kind of attitude in his locker room (see "me angry, me no go on plane" incident).
Theres no reason to brake up the A.K - Plekanec - Kovalev line. It was one of are most exiting lines last season and also one of the best lines in the nhl for a good stretch. You need to go back to that line. Tanguay was brought in to give koivu and higgins what they were missing last year. I really like the mix of players you find in that line. I think Sundin would be a perfect fit for sergei K. and latendresse. Those two young players could really benefit from sundin experience and giving Sundin two young kids like that might make him fell younger as well. Kovalev was really push by A.K and plekanec and it might be the same result for sundin if he signs with us.
I think Andrei is going to RW... he looks more comfortable on that side.
Higgins can take his place on the Pleks-Kovy line.
I think AK46 should move to RW also, to give Koivu's line a boost, and to prepare AK46 to take over from AK27 as the main offensive threat in the future. He has to carry a line before he can carry a team, and playing third fiddle on the first line, while useful in his development, needs to become part of the past.
With Sundin, I had this:
Without Sundin or any other new C, Chips moves up to #3. However, he will need to have some speed (Higgins) with him if we expect the third line to contribute a bit of offense, while still being responsible defensively. I don't like having Chips and Tender on the same line when they are the two slowest forwards. Also Tanguay needs to play with scorers more than Higgins does, so I think he can move in with Pleks and Kovy when AK46 is shifted to RW.
Without Sundin or a new C then:
1stLatendress-Pleakanec-kovalev...Lats in front of the net! Pleaky and Kovy could do their thing
2ndTangay-Koivu-A Kostitsyn good ES line. Plus AK could put up some serious goals in!
3rdGrabovski-Chipchura-S.Kostitsyn....could be good With Chiper doing the dirty work in the corners and to some extand S.K. grabo for his speed and complemented by SK.
Beside I think grabo has a better chance has a winger
