yup, I'm getting differing outlooks and views from various medias.

One says Sundin isn't "enamoured" with front runners while the other says Sundin is highly impressed with the Habs and Gainey.

On SPorts Illustrated's rumour site, they say that depending which of Sundin's friends you talk to, you get one side of the story or another. One group of friends say he is enamoured with Montreal, the other say he isn't and wants to play in NY.

This might be why we get two different sides of the story

That's where I quoted the "not enamoured " part from.

On the other hand the Toronto Star states Sundin is impressed with the Habs and Gainey.

Toronto Star

Mats Sundin's indecision about where or if he will play next season continued for another day yesterday, while on another front, speculation is hot over the possibility of former standout goalie Curtis Joseph returning to the Maple Leafs when the NHL free-agent market opens Tuesday.

J.P. Barry, Sundin's agent, conveyed in a brief email yesterday that the Leafs captain still hasn't decided on his plans for next season.

The Montreal Canadiens, who acquired exclusive negotiating rights to Sundin from the Leafs until July 1, have reportedly left Sundin highly impressed with the organization.Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher has asked Sundin for a decision this weekend so that the franchise can be prepared for the start of the free-agent market.

Toronto Sun

Depending on which of his friends you believe, Sundin is not really enamoured with the supposed frontrunners, Montreal and Detroit, would consider the New York Rangers or Florida Panthers, but is also having trouble coming to grips with a final divorce from the Leafs.

Since both Gainey and Sundin are known as quiet private type people. I'm guessing nobody really knows the truth besides the 2 of them.

So even though each of the stories I've been hearing all make strong points as to what Sundin's decision might be. I'm not taking any of them seriously.

Why is "being impressed" that big of a deal? Wasn't Brière really impressed by the organization and by Bob as well? Didn't we hear Shanahan say how great of a respect he had for Bob? Why is it suppose to mean anything?

I disagree, if Sundin doesn't sign and Hossa does end up somewhere else. Gainey will still make some type of move, it just might not be the big name type player that most of us are hoping for though.

could be, but this move of sundin is the best, no roster player leaves the team, he might have to go down trade alley, and then we lose a player or two or three.

He's made the move already, it was called Tanguay!

i can see him making additional moves if he feels it will help.. whether thats to sign a guy like rolston and/or brunette or acquire a center in a trade remains to be seen however

In typical Gainey fashion he'll be patient and see what comes up for grabs during the season rather than get a guy just to get a guy.

That's what i think will happen.

I agree Sundin seems to be the best fit. But there are still other UFA's out there he might find interesting to fill other holes on the roster. That wouldn't cost us anything.

Any other year I would agree with you. But with this being the 100th, I don't think Gainey is going to be satisfied with only obtaining Tanguay.

But...wouldnt his agent know as much as Gainey and Sundin?

Possibly, so for arguements sake. Let's say he does, so I'll change my answer to only 3 people knowing the true answer.

this the 100th year:

1. bob will make a run for it, and get aggressive with trade if need be

2. bob will not trade away our 1st round pick, as many leaf fans hope, the draft is in mtl, so why would he.

3. if mats does not come, bob has i bet another centre lined up, on his radar for a trade.

4. hossa will get called by mtl, for sure, even if mats signs, but hossa will be hard to land.

5. breeze by will not be back, thank goodness.

It's looking more and more like Marleau on Tuesday morning and Rolston on Tuesday afternoon
