Sergei Kostitsyn needs to play on the top 2 lines. I agree that we want 3 offensive lines, but Higgins and Latendresse are more suited for that role.

Sergei Kostitsyn > Higgins >>> Latendresse = Grabovski

My lines without Sundin would be (I don't believe Sundin will sign with Montreal):

Tanguay - Plekanec - Kovalev
S.Kostitsyn - Koivu - A.Kostitsyn
Higgins - Grabovski - UFA
Latendresse - Chipchura/Lapierre - Kostopoulos

Extra: Dandenault, Begin

2ndTangay-Koivu-A Kostitsyn good ES line. Plus AK could put up some serious goals in!

3rdGrabovski-Chipchura-S.Kostitsyn....could be good With Chiper doing the dirty work in the corners and to some extand S.K. grabo for his speed and complemented by SK.
Beside I think grabo has a better chance has a winger

4thBegin-Lapierre-Kostopoulos Our bang line.
Please check yourself into a mental asylum as soon as possible. If you won't do so, please advise the address and phone number of your nearest relatives. I need to speak with them.

Only a complete nutcase could slot Prima Donna Grabovski into the lineup and put Alternate Captain Christopher Higgins in the press box.

Can you believe I was actually going, man those lines are pretty good. I didn't even notice Higgins wasn't there.

We have SO much depth.

Without Sundin or a new C then:
Tanguay-Plekanec-Kovalev
Latendresse-Koivu-AK46
Higgins-Chipchura-SK74
Begin-Lapierre-Kostopoulos
These lines are basically what I was thinking, as well, except I'd slot Lapierre on the wing in the case Sundin signs, scratching one of Bégin / Kostopoulos...

Then in this case, we need a very long list for all who tought Higgins was the compensation. May be we can start a new Asylum business.

Anyway, Sundin does not want to be a rent player. Maybe he won't sign before july 1st because of that...

If Gainey was that dumb he'd have never made GM in the NHL or won a cup. I can see Grabovsky being the comensation, he's a fringe NHLer, but not a quality player like Higgins.

I guess I should....Cause I did forget Higgins
Must finish my coffee before anything and this prouves it. Put Higgins in Grabo's place.
I'm desapointed by myself. I was way to focus on the first two lines and well, I add him in their before Tangay came to town so that is my story and I'm sticking to it
Try Higgins with Chipper and SK

Thinking out loud here, but with Tanguay, Higgins and Begin as shoe-ins for the position, who do you think will move to RW between AKost and Tender? Or do you think Carbo will try either Tanguay or Higgins at C?

I've always though Andrei Kostitsyn should be tried at RW, since he's mainly a shooter and would benefit from playing on his off wing, better angle to shoot since he's a lefty. Latendresse has played well at times on RW though, so it will be interesting to see in training camp. Carbo might not want to break out the famous Plekanec line, so we will more than likely see Latendresse on RW.

And if Carbo decides NOT to break up the Plekanec line, it's inevitable: Chris Higgins will start the year on the 3rd line, more than likely with Chipchura and Latendresse on RW. Tanguay will play a top-6 role for sure, and if we do not make any other moves, will probably find himself on a line with Koivu and S.Kostitsyn on RW, although that line might have too many playmakers and no one to go in the corners effectively.
Not usually tough to move from LW to RW

Plus Begin is a C naturally and is only a 4th line guy and role player these days
