There you have it. He's not making his final decision before Tuesday, July 1. Best case scenario he still signs with us and the Leafs get no compensation, bwahahahaha!!! Worst case, well I can't even conjure up such a scenario because it'd be more than him bolting for the Rangers. Think more heinous, like Ottawa or Boston (bloody unlikely but ya never know). Nonetheless, this news will bring out more calls of "Forget Sundin, he sucks!" (aka "Sign now but if you do wait to do it, you're still awesome") and "He wants to play somewhere else." There's still no proof he will spurn Gainey's offer.

Sure he can wait all he wants. But will there be a team out there that will do his business as usual but will still keep 8 millions just in case Sundin decides to play? Doesn't Sundin realizes that he might just put himself into retirement by not deciding? What are the teams suppose to do? Forget about the other plans and just wait for Mr. Sundin to decide and then make a pitch without really knowing if he's interested in their team?

There's something that makes no sense in here. The longer Sundin wait, more the interested teams or the richest teams will go on with their other plans and won't have no money for him so what is he going to do.

There's something more to it. And I really believe that come July 1st, Sundin will surprisingly decide that he's ready and go see the teams he's really interested in.

Gainey has to move on. If he doesn't, it means he has no confidence in anybody else and prefers going with what he has and wait for Sundin to wake up. Which won't be too brillant in my opinion.

Don't forget. Tanguay's acquisition was suppose to be great not only for the effect on the team but also for the effect on future UFA's. Let really see if it really has an effect.

Of course, the truth is often more boring than sensationalism.
What the heck does 75% means anyway? 3 times out of 4 within the last hour, he said that he's going to sign with us and the other time he's not too sure? Either you will, you won't, or you have no idea. But 75%.....sure.....

It's time for another "Just wondering".....

Could the deal be "I let you have a head start on everybody but in exchange you give me a compensation whether you sign him before or even after the deadline...."?

That makes sense also, because if not they could have a deal in place and just say lets announce iot after July 1st.

I'm sure Gainey would never do that, I'd think he would even swing some form of compensation Toronto's way if he signed Sundin after July 1st, even if the agreement with Fletcher didn't require it.

75% that Sundin signs, but anything is possible he says....that's hilarious.

I get this vision of Eklund spinning a big wheel with various numbers on it. It stops on 75, and Eklund screams out "That's it!! 75% chance he signs!" (But anything is possible.)

Jesus, we've had everyone's comment, everything possible written on Sundin this past week, except Maggie the monkey's prediction. What about his horoscope? Has anyone studied that?

I decided to check, but I didn't understand any of it. Apparantly though, for the Aquarius Mats Sundin, this is the lowdown:

Jupiter, the planet of expansion, forms a tense 135-degree sesquisquare with restrictive Saturn on June 26.

Wooooo......not only that, Mercury is in retrograde with Gemini!!! It's all becoming clear now isn't it?

The moon is in the 7th house, I live in a house; I'm listening to the House of the Rising Sun, and Eklund is spinning that wheel again......

I think he is going to retire. If he doesnt he already said he wanted to stay in Canada but i dont care which team he goes to. if montreal got him that would be a big boost for them but toronto already sucks so they are just going to get worse if he leaves.

After having such a good season, on a bad team, I just can't see him retiring...he might, but my guess would be he signs a contract for 2 years...he plays one year, and depending on his health, and desire to keep going, he plays year 2 or retires then...ONE thing is for certain, he not going going back to the circus in TO...
