This says only score updates, but I imagine it's worth a try:

For the Rangers at least.

Doesn't look like they provide any FA news.

From the NHL Mobile Alert Terms & Conditions:

Quote:
Subscription Plans During the Off Season

The Subscription Plans, if not terminated, continue from one NHL season to the next, although no alerts will be sent during this period, and no subscription fees will be charged. Once the new NHL season begins, the number of alerts and the subscription fee in effect for your existing Subscription Plan will automatically resume.

An NHL season is defined by a NHL teamís full regular season (i.e. 82 games, for the 2007-08 season) and the total number of playoff games played by that team. Once eliminated you will receive an alert notifying you that your teamís season has ended, and you will be given an option to transfer your subscription to another team. Once the playoffs are over, your existing Subscription Plan will revert to that of your original team, and the alerts will automatically resume when the new NHL season begins.

I use ESPN's mobile alerts through their web site...its pretty good, you can get all the signings and stuff, sometimes its a little slow, but it was good on trade deadline day
