I don't think Matt Zaba played hardball with them. It was probably a pretty easy signing and there's no reason not to do it. Signing Zaba doesn't mean they haven't been trying to sign other players.

Why would anyone assume that the ANNOUNCEMENT of Zaba's contract (who knows when it was negotiated) has anything to do with Dawes, Avery, Jagr or even Jessiman?

one can only assume that Matt Zaba is the tiny crack that will lead to the dam breaking.

How does this signing have anything to do with the players you mentioned?

Because the fact that this is the only announcement since the signing of that Swedish guy, is very grim.

It's a useless signing, Zaba will never be our back up, let alone next season.

Nothing wrong with keeping a bright prospect signed in the system.

And even if he doesnt make it to the NHL, its still good to have competition and reliable goalies on the farm.

Because Dawes re-signing (or even being offered) hasn't been announced... everything we've read about Jagr, Avery, Valiquette and Rozsival is pure speculation (before those Avery/Jagr comments from Sather, and Sean "Zoolander" Avery's Derelicte campaign).

It's unsettling.

It don't really think that resiging Zaba precludes the Rangers from doing all those other things.

And re-sign Zaba, ok, I'm fine with it. But I have trouble believing talented, young goalie no. 4,983,224 and 1/2 will become something really worthwhile. I could be wrong, and for his sake, I hope so.

Not that it precludes anything (we didn't give him 100M for 10 yrs, did we?), it just tells you there's a good chance Dawes wasn't even signed yet, and who knows if he got the Q.O.?

Either getting getting information out of this organization is like wringing water from a rock, or it is a rock... sitting there... not doing much.

I would think it was pretty easy to sign Matt Zaba.

"Hey Matt, he's an extension. Sign it."

"Can I have more money?"

"No."

"Can I borrow a pen?"

I don't think..

that because the Rangers haven't announced anything that they aren't going to do anything. OK, they signed Zaba, which as a couple in here pointed out was likely a quick negotiation process and something they wanted to get done. I'm sure that's not the only thing they're working on.

Unrfortunately, we have to be patient. I'm not a fan of Sather and don't agree with all the moves he makes or his negotiating tactics, but he usually gets the things done that he wants to get done.

Ok, one more time. The Rangers RARELY make "public" annoucnements bout who got QOs and who didn't. You can speculate all you want about what it means, but ultimately it don't mean squat. As far as we know Zaba was signed weeks ago, and they finally announced it. Or, this was an easy one to get done, so they did it.
