Guy Charron leaving Panthers

Hi Panther fans - saw this on RDS:

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/254768.html

It says Pete DeBoer has decided to go in a different direction with the coaching staff.

Thank you! This is good news, Charron is not good enough for the NHL.

Alright, your Panther cheering is going a little overboard. Charron was in charge of our offense and PP. Our PP was great last year.

If anything, Kitchen should be the one let go because our defense sucked last year and that was his area.

The wrong guy got let go.

I'll agree - our offense looked really good in first periods last season. Not so much in 2nd and 3rd periods...in fact, it was missing from those periods.

As for our defense sucking, though - I think that was more the defensemen than coaching issues. Technically they were covering their assignments and had proper positioning in most cases. They just sucked at fighting battles along the boards, beating opponents to pucks in their own ends, and clearing pucks from the zone, at least to my recollection.

I've always thought Charron and Kitchen aren't good assistants, there are so many better ones out there.

I'll agree as well. While I'm not overly sad that Charron is being let go, I REALLY wish Kitchen was on his way with him.

Totally agree with this sentiment. Whatever the reasoning behind letting Charron go, it should also be applied to releasing Kitchen.

It always struck me as odd that the - forgive me, Guy - all-time record holder for games-played without playoffs was coaching the rapidly-approaching number two on the list: Olli Jokinen.

Thought that was bizarre three years ago and hold to that. I hate typing this but there appeared to be a culture of "loserdom" beginning to permeate the team. Yeah, I know, hard to believe.

Good luck to him but the right move was made.

It was a conspiracy. Charron was sick of holding that record and he made sure that Jokinen broke it.
