Advantages of being as Coach and GM

Comparing the situations in Calgary and Edmonton, I think it may be easier for one person working on both duties as GM and coach (case of Darryl Sutter). Of course it will be very busy, but at least, one can have a ultimate decision on addressing the needs of the team much more efficiently. For the Oilers, I see that there are a few (if not too many) conflicts between Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish. These differences may cause some friction, but more obviously seen about the players usages or the "phylosophy" as Mr. Lowe has mentioned before. I do not know how it works between the coach and GM, but there must be some differences between 2 people's vision, unless they have the same "phylosophy". These difference may waste time, money of the organization, and also the players' opportunity to contribute.
Which model is better for Oilers?

Seeing as Sutter himself doesn't want to do both duties next year, I think you have the answer to your question.

Will this living nightmare of Calgary being on the verge of winning it all ever end? Will we then go through about 6 months of "Calgary, the Perfect model of how to run a small market franchise "....Start with missing the playoffs for 7 consecutive years ..".
I already own Vol.1 of this series " The '95 Panthers; how to build the perfect franchise by W. Hyzenga",
Vol.2 "The '97 Capitals: How to Build a Lasting contender"
Vol.3 "The '01 Carolina Hurricanes: "The Hurricane that Almost was", how to build a small market contender",
Vol.4 "The '02 Ducks: Almost a miracle on Ice" & now...
Vol.5 "The '03 Flames: "How smart managerial decisions, Oleg Saprykin's intellect & Divine Intervention led The Chosen one & his Flaming Faithfull to the Promised Land."

Too late, I've already got the rights to "Flaming Faithful".

Since your obviously a collector of this sort of thing, I have a few of the out-of-print volumes that you might want to buy from me:

Vol.6 "The '99 Sabres: Really, its not just the goalie." by Darcy Regier, foreword by John Muckler.
Vol.7 "The '94 Canucks: Stanley Cup finalists on the verge of greatness!"
Vol.8 "1993 Stanley Cup finals: L.A vs Montreal. The monumental clash of two future dynasties"

Dear God,.. how could I have forgotten the Sabres run?!? I only broke a chair and screamed "HE WAS IN THE CREASE!!" at the top of my lungs when Hull scored in OT.
I thought the Stars were the last team Id want to win the Cup. Little did I know.....
