I'm afraid Howson's record is still too undistinguished to lay claim to any title quite so grand. Gotta say though ... he's giving an impressive effort in his apparent attempt to dislodge Jay Feaster from his #30 ranking of GMs in the NHL.

I'm more concerned that the Avs resigned Liles at this point. But this signing is one of the better things thats happened to the CBJ since the end of the season.

Wow, it actually took more then I thought to resign Rent-a-Captain. How long before the Avs regret this move and decide they should've tried to go after someone who was actually worth that kind of money?

I'm curious how many blogs/articles have been written by the Dispatch guys that contained references to the Adam Foote "foced his way out" story. I'm putting the over/under at 15.

This is so true. But we do the same thing around here.
Beating a dead horse apparently has some psychological benefit.

We're not paid money to beat dead horses...But I digress.

Besides, we prefer to have our arguments degenerate into one about Zherdev.

Regardless of feelings, that's kind of slanderous. Nothing like a little noon time debauchery.

Serious question, not a Foote-bash (might copyright that term).... anyone recall how many times the Captain of a team has left a team during a season (traded, waived, non-injury)? For some reason, I just now wondered how many times it's happened.

I believe that every captain of the CBJ except of course for Nash has been traded or been allowed to walk in free agency.

Okay, so 3 of our 4 captains have been traded.

Sorry, guess I should have specified I meant NHL-wide, not CBJ. Didn't Whitney leave after the season?

Can't wait to boo him every time he touches the puck during his two trips to Columbus this season.

One example that comes to mind is Brendan Shanahan. He was captain of the Hartford Whalers but demanded a trade. His captaincy was stripped, or as he claims, given back. He then was traded to Detroit. A scummy move on his part, IMO. I can't believe we allowed such a slimebag to become a U.S. citizen.
