Why should one of the worlds best players not care about money? This is a business isn't it?

I really don't like Sather, he seems to go about everything the wrong way. I respect what he's done after the lock out, but i'm pessimistic about this off season.

I agree with what your saying here, I would certainly be concerned with money if it were me, but what I think is bothering some people is that Jagr is equating money with being the leader and being appreciated when I think that has been proved to him already by the fans, by Renney and by Sather.

That being said I think these quotes are just the way Jagr goes about communicating.

We shall see soon enough.

No to Sundin, and no to Jagr. I'm a huge Jagr fan but we don't need to cripple ourselves for 3 years just to please him. A 1 year deal I would be ok with. Hossa would fit this team better, gives us an elite talent up front then solidify the D with a guy like Orpik. Build around Gomez, Drury, Hossa and Hank.

Yet his teams have made the playoffs the past 3 years....he absolutely fleeces his counterparts in most trades, and hes steadily building the farm system.

Cut the guy a break.

I disagree with some of the stuff he's saying and doing, but the guy cared and wanted to win...
You watched him this season and you really think he's dedicated to winning? Give me a break.

The guy FINALLY showed some emotion when they were on the verge of getting knocked out of the playoffs by the Pens. Thats 90 games too late for me.

An average 25 point decline per year over the last two years, and now he wants the biggest contract on the team? Business or not, that's just flat out unreasonable.

Now he wants Mats Sundin to be his center, but isn't willing to take a pay-cut to make it happen? Oh man, where do I sign???

Despite all the crap that has surrounded him, Slats still asked him back and the fans STILL saluted him in the playoffs this year. Now he needs money to validate some respect? ********. Complete ********.

i guess having a good team in franchise mode of nhl08(with yourself created) gives you the right to say he is going to f this up this offseason. relax he knows what hes doin

Hossa and his 100 million dollar contract is not something to build around.

Wow how quickly everyone forgets the pre-lockout years. Lindros, Bure, Bobby Holik.

He fleeces everyone in trades? I mean the Jagr trade was great but that was more a product of Washington then Sather doing something brilliant.

I have a lot of respect for Sather, but I didn't agree with all his moves last year, and this year I have a bad feeling.

You guys act as if its a bad thing for a fan to have a negative opinion of the GM.

Maybe he does know what he's doing, I just don't agree with him.

Some people think Jaromir Jagr's just drop from the sky everyday. The guy is still an elite talent and opens up the ice for everyone else on this team. If you don't want him because of money, you're just plain crazy. We don't have any Jagr's sitting in our farm system, there's no Jagr's waiting to crack the lineup and if we don't have any Jagr's in the lineup next year we're not making the playoffs. I know which is fine because then we can tank and get Tavares. Yeah, right. The same people who don't want Jagr are the same people who will be whining all year about how we're losing and how we need to fire Renney and Sather.

Jagr can't open up the ice for anyone if we can't afford to sign anyone else to put on the ice with him.

Oh no, we won't make the playoffs without Jagr!! Aside from being an absolute joke of a statement in itself, frankly what's so spectacular about getting bumped in the 2nd round? Really, I want to know. So Mattyd99, please enlighten me.

One time in NHL07, I was offered Jordan Staal for Marc Staal + Jagr + a 2nd, and I was all like "hell no!"

So then I gave Prucha a ton of icetime and had him score like 20 goals in 3 games, and then I traded him for Malkin. See that's how you do it
