Love it! Mean, nasty and plays with a major chip on his shoulder. Opposing teams D-men in the east better keep their heads up.

You're probably right, chosen...

a cheap version of Avery to save the cap space for something bigger. Of course he has 7 NHL goals under his belt.

Dude, chill. This is about as inconsequential signing as you can get. He very likely will wind up in HFD.

not if they trade some of that depth for another player

would anyone be upset to see them sign a Redden and then make a deal that would see a physical D man coming over for Orr and Backman?.........I think they will pull off a trade cause some of the contracts are nuts

AND all the major D men are still around...........let's see what happens

hes a 4th liner guys, weve got Hollweg, Orr, Byers, Betts, Korpikoski, and Moore who all can play on the 4th line, though Hollweg would be better off doing janitorial work.

maybe its just me, but a team that needs 3 top 2 line wingers, and a top defenseman, shouldnt be talking to a guy whom they really dont need. at least not this early.

We have more important players to sign then a guy who played less then 10 minutes a game last season and has the same offensive skills as Blair Betts.

Why would anyone be happy about this at the time considering we have about 3 defenseman signed and missing most of our top 6?

It's not idiotic because it doesn't cost much... And the guy has proven to be reasonably successful at the NHL level. A 4th liner who can hit, fight, and actually possess some offensive ability is something nice to have.

agree.
If he gets anywhere over 7 figures ill be really upset.

But i cant evaluate this as a whole until everything goes down and the entire roster is assembled.

But right now I gotta admit, kind of mind-boggling.

All depends on the price. And it could be anything, with guys like Finger getting 3.5 who knows what we paid. I'd rather play a guy like Dane Byers if we had to overpay, otherwise I'm okay with this. A big body to play nasty hockey and give us a bit of what we lose with Avery going.

Great charachter signing. Kid can bang, and he IMO is a better player than say Ryan Hollweg...but I don't think he is destined for the 4th line. I think he will be a 3rd liner.

Love it!

I say wait until we hear the terms to call it "idiotic". Right now it's just meh for me. Nothing outstanding, but seems like a decent fit. Plus if it means the end of Hollweg here, all the better.

It's not like Free Agency ends after only a few hours. There's plenty of time left. He's going to improve the team anyway possible, and he believes he did so with this signing. It's not like the Rangers can only focus on one player at a time.

Except this guy has proven he can do this, where Moore, Byers, and Kopr haven't. Hollywood is as good as gone, and Betts isn't this type of player.

Anyway, I doubt Slats dealt with this directly. I am sure he's focusing on the fish we want him to.

I really doubt Sather was like leaving Campbell on hold to talk to Voros or something, I don't see why anyone would worry about it.
