What has Hossa ever done to deserve this money. When I think of superstars, I think of Crosby, Malkin, Sakic, Lemieux etc. HOSSA is not able to carry a team like them!
While Hossa will sign for 8-9 M per season, those players would sign for 12-15 per season. See the difference?

My favorite UFAs are still available so far, I like it... Hossa, Rolston, Jagr, Demitra and Sundin (I still believe we are in the hunt, Bob is just trying to get another game-breaker and will resume with Sundin if he fails... he must know Sundin won't decide soon (he talked with him during 10 days))...
Rolston signed with the Devils... 20 mil for 4 seasons.
Holik also signed with the Devils... back to his roots.

Yeah, and very often, their argument is that it would bring a french canadian star to Montreal... Morons...

Ryder would work well in Minnesota with a guy like PMB but Vancouver should get him to play with the twins.

wow Campbell at 7.1 million a season. They are five million over the cap as of right now with 12 million on two goalies. I think i could have done a better job than that. They have a young team in Toews, Kane, Seabrooke, Keith, Sharp. You do not over pay for UFAs, you just add cheaper players to compliment your core and let the yonger guys devolpe into the stars.
Tanguay, Kovalev, Koivu ($14.5M of salary) are all UFA next season. Don't worry. We can afford Hossa at $10M.

It's amazing how much cap space every team has.

The fact that he hasn't accepted Edmonton's offer is a good thing. It at least means he's not 100% sold on them even though they offered the most money. There's still hope.

So the Habs now have an exciting, winning team, a lot of money, plenty of stability, and still can't sign anyone? What's it gonna take?

Of course... Gainey might still get the Hamrlik-like guy that will make a huge difference without costing the moon. I would've thought that guy was Rolston though.

Have you seen 12-15 mill for them yet. Crosby 8.7. Ovechkin is what..9 ish..Vinny is around 9 ish....Hossa is not even close to there level. Iginla..I can go on and on. Hossa had one good playoff year in his LIFE! Oh yeah, playing with Crosby doesn't hurt...do we have a Crosby on our team that can make Hossa look like god.

Everyone has to remember, next years crop of UFA at this point look a lot better.

7:01pm ET - I've just been told the we aren't likely to see Marian Hossa sign with a team today. He's expected to take the night to mull over his choices and we could see something happen tomorrow. It's possible a team will up their offer, but as of now, Hossa will make his decision tomorrow.

It's ****** funny to hear people complain on CKAC that the Habs didn't do a thing but blast every deal signed by free-agents today...
