At least it appears Sather has some semblance of a plan, which is good. The fact that none of us saw the plan coming is even better.

HaHa....I am pretty surprised too

Only thing that I think will happen is Avery and Jagr are coming back

I don't think these are bad signings.........I think it means a trade will happen involving Prucha and depth guys Orr and Hollweg are gondie

Actually like the 2 moves so far...
Grit & grit

Lets see - resign Mountain Man Fritz & Avery bring up Gratton & Soriyal
Keep Hollweg & Orr
Sign Laraque

Lineup:
Voros - Gomez - Rissmiller
Avery - Drury - Laraque
Gratton - Dubinsky - Callahan
Orr - betts - Fritz
Soriyal/Hollweg

Old time hockey...

Seriously
Turning into a real log jam on the bottom 2 lines
Getting interestingto see the next move or 2..

Offense
FA* (or Drury) - Gomez - Dawes
Prucha - Drury (or FA*) - FA
Sjöström - Dubinsky - Callahan
Jämtin/Rissmiller/Hollweg - Betts - Orr/Voros

Unsigned from 2007/2008
  • Jagr
  • Shanny
  • Avery
  • Straka

Rookie candidates
Korpedo
Anisimov

Defense
FA - Staal
Tyutin - girardi
Backman - FA

FA/Rookie

Unsigned from 2007/2008
Rozsival
Malik
Mara
Strudwick
Hutchinsson

Rookie candidates
  • Potter?
  • Sangs??
  • Pock
(no rookie - but still a slight possibility...)

Goal
Hank
FA

Unsigned from 2007/2008
Vally

WOW
Still Lots of gaping holes to fill
Will get interesting sooner than later I believe
4-5 more signings (incl some resignings) + a trade coming up I believe...
Or else the team will be very thin in Hartford

I guess my prediction is
jagr
Sundin
Orpik
Rozie
Vally

Yeah, still a lot of good players out there.

Lets just be patient and hope the needs are addressed.

bigger, better on the 4th line, maybe the third line.

These signings are SO SATHER too.

Under performing guys with great potential buried on someone elses team....

Don't hate the signings -- don't really know much about either of Voros or Rissmiller so won't comment. Do know that all last season we lacked a solid forecheck and wingers with size. Atleast we've answered the size issue. If these guys can forecheck and Slats brings in a solid d-man plus a couple of forwards then I will certainly be happy.

I think a trade is possible. Remember they still have re-sign Dawes.

I dunno, most people who have seen him play don't seem to be too high on Rissmiller.

I'm pumped about the Rissmiller signing because he's the only Holy Cross player to ever make it to the NHL. I was willing to get a Sharks jersey with his name on the back, now I get another Rangers one.

Where's JRGNYR? He'll be happy about this too.

At least he's a 4th liner that has the ability to score more than 1 goal..

Rissmiller is not bad at all. In fact I'm pumped about this signing. I saw the guy play a lot in the AHL, and while he is a third liner at best, the guy has good hands and can add some offense. A much better offensive player than guys like Betts, Hollweg, Ortmeyer.

Still not sure what Sather's plan is here though.

Rissmiller is a grade A dude, and a hard worker, and when you look at what this signing means, and how it could play out, it's a good signing. This, combined with the Voros signing, tells me our fourth line is on its way out. Hollweg, Betts and Orr have no role on this team anymore. All three of them are great energy guys, but it looks like the Rangers are trying to move away from a three-line scoring squad, to a four-line squad.
