Sundin or bust for me. Orpik or Streit would probably anger me substantially.
Roszival at $5m would have angered me, personally, and we don't really need any more scoring wingers.

Orpik would be a big upgrade on Bouillon (although considering what other D-men would be getting, he'll probably be our highest paid defenseman if we did sign him) and I'd much rather have a proven fighter like Laraque rotating in and out of our lineup than a useless slug like Dandenault. So in my perfect world we sign those two, trade Bouillon and buy out Dandenault. Oh and we get Hossa or Sundin

Imagine not having the depth to offset losing UFAs. And doubly scary is the GMs who eye your RFAs and strike like a snake in the grass when ready.
I'm trying to picture Lowe doin this....

Buy out period is past. It would have to be trade Dandenault... which is laughable.

I would put an offer to RFA
dennis wideman

why??

because he isn't a bad player and if Boston matches our offer
this takes away money they could throw to Hossa

something like 2.6 millions(compensation=2nd pick only)

if they match=less money for hossa

if they dont=solid player for a 2nd pick

I pick Wideman randomly because he is one of Boston RFA
and Boston seems like a major player to sign Hossa

What do you think?

Redden to Rangers.

Bob is still at bat. Some people are starting to whisper stuff about crapping or getting off the pot.

On paper, the conference rivals are improving.

It can be done. Dandenault + third for future considerations.

Dandy is a useful player and has Cup rings. He's just redundant on the Habs' depth chart.

Redden to New York, 6 years, 6.5 million.

With $11.5 million tied up with Rozival and Redden, they are out of the Sundin and Hossa sweepstakes.

Ok Rangers. Try signing Hossa, Jagr or Sundin now. What an overpayment for Redden. He gets a raise after the season he just had!?

NYR might be out of the Hossa/Sundin sweepstakes.

I don't care about finishing 1st in the East. I want to build my team in respect to the playoffs. And there are ingredients missing.

I already put down my list of guys I want. So it's then pretty obvious that I'm not the kind of fan that want a signing just for the sake of it but then you must be the kind of fan who says things without checking them first....
What I meant is that Bob Gainey built a team that finished first last season without getting big names over the UFA market. Getting Tanguay can only help this team next year by bringing experience. There are a lot of young talent in our system waiting to shine. Bob Gainey has a plan ; and i'm pretty sure that one part of the plan is to not give a 5 years contract with huge money to a player we'll regret. I still can't believe lots of deals today.

Anyhow, some will call CKAC to blast Bob Gainey. Montreal people are really smart when it comes to hockey

I think Bob could have gotten something done with the Wings if Stuart had left town.

Not a raise, he gets the same pay. It's not bad at all considering some of the contracts being handed out.

Or we should stop the presses and starts signing the UFA guys will have next year......may not be a good idea though 'cause those guys will compare themselves to the numbers we're seeing right now....

If Commodore can have 3.5, how many Komi could have???

If Hagman got 3....how many for Pleks, Higgins.....

Rangers didn't really improve. If this is it, they added Redden and hypothetically lost Straka, Avery, Jagr, Shanahan. Bah, it makes room for their youngsters but Redden is a gigantic burden on their cap. If the Habs signed that deal, I'd snap. I still hold out hope for Mats to spurn Vancouver and join us. But the Canadiens are also pining for Hossa and the rest so anything is possible.

LOL Streit is now the top defenceman available.

And he doesn't play the position.
