The way I see it, if Wellwood plays it wont be on the bottom 2 lines. Rypien will be back in Manitoba, and Cowan will either finish the last line or be put on waivers. I think the bottom six will look a little like this
Burrows Kesler Pyatt/Pettinger
Hordichuk Johnson Pyatt/Pettinger
Pretty damn good defensive bottom 6 if you ask me.
Enjoy him, guys. Great skater, great at faceoffs, great at blocking shots and his performance on the ice can be inspiring at times (especially when he's blocking a crazy amount of shots or running over Hasek )
Limited offense though. Still, a great PK'er and he'll more than likely earn every penny of his paycheck.
That's all I need to hear. Although it's interesting considering we have two very good PKers in Kesler and Burrows already. Guess you can never have too many.
Guys, could you please stop pencilling in Wellwood as a bottom 6 player? It's either top 6 role or pressbox. The guy is useless in any other capacity...I'm sure Gillis and AV recognize this.
I like this signing, although it doesn't address our scoring. On the bright side, I like the fact that Gillis is at least making everything OUTSIDE of our scoring start to look pitch perfect.
So that's a fantastic 3rd/4th line, 6-man d-core, goaltending, along with the Sedins, and a good shot at Sundin, with about 5 million to spend on the Sundin winger and a backup.

This is getting pretty frustrating, I don't get these signings that Gillis is making, don't we already have an abundance of 4th/3rd liners, that we can plug in by our farm? Gillis better have another move up his sleeve cause this is giving me headaches
No, we have an abundance of crappy 3rd and 4th liners. That's why we had to settle for the likes of Byron Ritchie and Brad Isbister through much of last season. These guys are actually decent players that fill holes our other pluggers simply didn't fill. We've been needing a good shot blocker for a while now, and our PK can always use an upgrade.

Yeah, if Gillis only had an offer out there to make someone the highest paid player in the league, then things would get interesting.
What do you want the guy to do? Maybe he could get Quinn to work his magic and give Sundin a nice 3 am wakeup call.

We have an abundance of low quality 3rd/4th liners but with the additions of Hordichuk and Johnson our bottom 6 looks like this:
Burrows-Kesler-Pettinger
Hordichuk-Johnson-()
That is an above-average bottom 6 with each player possessing the elements of speed, grit, and competitiveness.
I think Pyatt will be on his way out because he doesn't bode well with Canucks roster moving forward.

I'm probably being just a stubborn Canuck fan, I guess I should be a little optimistic, but the fact of the matter is we have pretty decent amount of 3rd/4th liners in our system, Hansen, Brown, Shannon, etc, I don't really consider them crappy players.

Agree 100% With our D and Louie we will be stingy, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't our major downfall last year lack of scoring? This team still will lose more 2-1 games than it will win. Are we to assume we already have 4 of our top 6 forwards (Sedin-Sedin-Raymond-Wellwood)? That is sad unless we got both Sundin & Hossa, which we won't.
Holy crap! I called this (the acquisition) a long time ago. I think he's the perfect 4th line centre. I really like this. Perfect guy for what was needed.
