Man, if we get Sundin...Sundin-Sedin-Kesler-Johnson would be the best group of centers in the division...

Edit - Hey, I wonder if the Backes offer sheet had anything to do with Johnson being available. Andy Strickland says that the salary the Blues were negotiating Backes was in the $1.2 million range...we just doubled it, Backes and Johnson play similar roles for the Blues, and we sign Johnson for about the difference...

Shrewd.

Great point. Would be hard to think it's just coincidence.

Yeah, I thought that as well, especially after Gillis said he thought St Louis would have a hard time matching the Backes offer. Sounds like something had to give and Gillis knew it. I bet Gillis would have preferred Backes but I wouldn't be surprised if his plan B all along was to pressure St Louis into not taking a run at Johnson.

Naslund Sundin Grabner (unproven but with a centre like Sundin he might be able to pull it off)
Sedin Sedin Raymond/Pyatt
Burrows Kesler Hansen
Hordichuk Johnson Brown/Pettinger (keep brown as the extra forward)

Ohlund Edler
Mitchell Kracijek
Bieksa Salo

Luongo
cheap back up

Difference between him and Ritchie/Isbister is that he is actually a quality player.

Great signing.

i think most of those injuries are due to his gritty and self sacrificing(shot blocking) style of play this is the reason people like him. as for the plus minus most people dont really think that is a great way of measuring a players worth, seeing as how johnson is no offensive dynamo his line scores less than the opposition and since he is a defensive player he is likely going against offensive lines.

A little mis-leading looking list...
actual summary...
07-08 - missed 1 game
06-07 - missed 18 games 2 injuries, 6 as pre-cautionary
05-06 - broken foot 14 gms

His only injury of any concern was a separated shoulder... even that is of minimal concern.... its a lot less serious than a dislocated shoulder.

You guys will love RJ. He is, without a doubt, probably one of the top 3 penalty killers in the league. He is absolutely fearless, and will block every shot that heads in his general direction. He's also a + character guy. He's obviously not a goal scorer, and not very offensively skilled, but he's definitely an above average checking line/penalty killer. Solid signing.
