Wouldn't surprise me to see him just go to the highest bidder.
But as for us, signing Hossa and our wing pairs become:
Tanguay-Hossa
A. Kostitsyn-Kovalev
Higgins-S. Kostitsyn
Latendresse-Kostopoulos
Just ridiculous, but our centers won't be anything special. Plekanc-Koivu-Chipchura-Lapierre? Meh, I'd much rather forget Hossa and strengthen our center position.
I think it's a given taht if they sign a UFA winger that Higgins will play center full time. Lats needs to play with a skill center next year.
Whoever gets Hossa will have to throw in a good bed in the deal, because that is where Hossa will be for the duration of the deal. He's not an Superstar like lecavelier, malkin, crosby, ovechkin. He also doesn't make anyone on the team better.
Dude. He made Radek ****ing Bonk look like a legit #1 center.
Concerning the thread: I can't help but have the feeling that logically, Montreal is the most likely destination for Hossa. Plenty of cap room, depth and good recent performances for the Habs.
If I was Hossa, the teams I would target are Detroit, Pittsburgh and Montreal.
I'd much rather give Sundin 10.5 for 1 year than give hossa a long term deal...we don't have a good cap situation, we need to keep the money freed up for next year or we could very well lose a good quarter of our team (koivu, kovy, komi, plek, higgins, tanguay, etc)
Could we outbid the Oilers? I know Kevin Lowe is nuts but if we can get to equal footing of the Oilers, i'm pretty sure Hossa would sign with us. And the reason I would do this it's because considering the luck in drafts and the way we never finish last to get one of those unique players, the only way to get one is via the UFA market. And all the big franchise players like Lecavalier, Malkin, Crosby, etc... are locked forever with their team. In short the only way we're gonna have a player of this quality, still in his prime is with Marian Hossa right now. I don't see any Habs players that will get near that level anywhere in our prospects, anywhere in our organisation.
So this is it. We don't get Hossa the Habs will never have a top player like that in this generation.

I think that the deals that Lowe made yesterday could convince Hossa that they are a team to be reckon with. And I would love to have all of those speedy guys around me.......
I don't think he'll be coming here. I have more a feeling that he could more go back to Pittsburgh than he'll be coming here.
Here's an idea: Oilers lose their shirt by trying to get Hossa. They need to shed salary, we trade them for Shawn Horcoff, a young talented centerman. Not a superstar but still a talented guy with a good work ethic and some size.

I would still like to add Hossa. But if he were aquired by Edmonton and we could pull that off, I definitely wouldn't be disappointed.
i highly doubt the oil would sign hossa () and then turn around and trade their #1 center that hossa would be lining up to play with (along with hemsky im assuming)
