That link doesn't confirm anything. It says he isn't going to the Pens, and that he thinks detroit was offering a shorter contract.

Ill wait for TSN to confirm..

Detroit signed Hossa for 1 year at $7.4 million - only one year - Detroit can re-sign Zetterberg one year from now...

Detroit did not consider destroying their future with a $9 million contract for seven years - Katz did.......

And posters who normally can see the big picture - who recognize a team is built with 20+ players as the players grow & mature together - I have no idea where their logic went.....

I may have "frothed at the mouth" - but I was not the one who looked silly.............

There are quite a few Detroit fans that are happy he signed, but are nervous about what this does to contract negotiations next season.

Just going off what some Detroit fans have said on the radio right after the announcement.

I am not so sure about that whether you think you were right or not you acting pretty ridiculous about it.

I find it interesting you are so very indignant about it. Especially considering you wanted to throw a former NHL reject that is 31 years old a 4 year 5 million dollar deal. The guy could be a flop or only score 40 points a year for that money that would be pretty consistent with his old numbers. That seems just as crazy to me personally.

Well, Ritch Winter is also Jagr's agent.

Maybe Hossa wasn't the only discussion point last night?

Isn't Pat Brisson Jagr's agent?

That's what the TEAM said this morning.

Also, Andy Strickland is saying the Oilers offered Hossa 9 years, $81 million. Not sure if that is a guess or from a legit source. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=16023

My bad, you're right.
Brisson is his agent. It's Straka that Ritch has.

Andy Strickland is the biggest idiot out there. I'd take what a magic 8 ball would say over the word of Andy Strickland.

if you really think you can just find players to outplay their contracts, without FLEECING the player like Detroit tries to (Datsyuk), good luck. especially in Edmonton. and if youre worried about players outplaying their contract, why is everyone fine with Moreau and Pisani's contracts? and if you dont think Hossa brings any intangibles like those players do outside of the points he puts up - you obviously dont watch his game. hes defensively solid and will make him and Horcoff on a line look like absolute studs. he was in the top 10 for takeaways in the entire NHL with 66. both are FAST players who backcheck hard. what does that do? it helps your defense immensely. or would you rather have someone like Jagr who is a backchecking nightmare, cherry picker and is heartless? "but hes cheaper." and if you dont try to get better players like Hossa, it just makes the depth of your team that much worse. it makes Penner play on the top line, which isnt even where he belongs regardless of the "chemistry" he had putting up 40 points on a top line.
buddy how do you call Jagr heartless
