when it comes to FA signings, Eklund is spot on. His record just yesterday was quite impressive. The only thing he got wrong (which was dumb of him to claim from the first place) was that Sundin would be signed yesterday without even knowing by who or if Sundin was even coming back. Don't make me go on his site and find all the breaking signings he posted yesterday.

edit: As far as his assessment of Fahey's play, well... I won't hold my breath
One thing you do got to recognize is that the Wolves are the Red Wings of the AHL with something like 4 Calder Cups in 6 seasons. Their head coach finally got promoted to the NHL post and their GM Kevin Cheveldayoff (who should replace Don "I trade Braydon Coburn for a player I just bought out" Wadell) is a highly regarded GM who almost got hired a few times this past year.

Both Rissmiller and Fahey were serviceable Sharks, playing on a team that had far less of a recognizable system than the Rangers (i.e. poorly coached, comparatively). Rissmiller gave his all, every night, every shift. He'll never be mistaken for a scoring forward.

Fahey filled in from time to time, and can probably provide most of what Backman provided at a lower cost. He will be helped by the Rangers' system, and does know how to move the puck.

This is a Drury-free thread, Rags, take your anti-Smurf bias elsewhere! Gonna change your name to Gargamel or whatever his name was!

He played a large 34 games I think. I'm glad Glen has Jagr sitting on the sidelines fielding offers while he signs which ever Fahey.

How young is he? Maybe Sather is trying to strike gold again like how we did with Girardi?

Looking at the stats I think I would rather it be Brian. At least he scored in the AHL, they both look like jokes though. sigh.

Just looking at his last years stats. I don't follow the AHL much besides the Wolf Pack.

Didn't realize Jason Krog was their best player.

What exactly does this even mean? Surely people STILL don't think the Rangers signing a player like Fahey changes anything about their chances/negotiations with Jagr.

It was clearly a joke dude. lol

If we signed Fahey for anything over 5 bucks over 8 years, I'm gonna be pissed though.

This has no effect on the Rangers. It's a Hartford signing.

Slats is hoping he'll be the Scott Stevens of the AHL: big, touch defenseman who has good skills (good for the AHL).

From what I've heard / read (which is very little) it seems Fahey is a slightly smaller, but more aggressive version of Girardi.

Although TSN has him at 6' 200lbs, HockeyDB has him at 6'1 213lbs.

Disregard my post above - wrong Fahey. Brian never played for the Sharks.

No, this isn't a blockbuster trade for a 1st line winger.

But, this is a fantastic depth signing. This guy's going to be great for Hartford and maybe he'll develop into a good 6th or 7th d-man for us.

That's it, Sather is looking to win the 3rd/4th liner, 6th/7th defenseman Stanley Cup. According to my calculations, I would say they are the favorites to win it this year.

Hutch won't be in the AHL next year no matter what. Either we sign him to play at the Garden or someone else will give him an NHL contract.

He has improved his play enough last year that if he is willing to sign a reasonable contract that won't be a cap-killer like his last one, Hutch will play in the NHL from start to finish next season.

I'm teetering... his next move is going to push me over the edge or hold me back.

I said it before this frenzy started this would be a make or break offseason for Sather.

He turned it around somewhat and got this team back to respectability after he cleaned up part of his own mess and he really had an open canvas to take the next step with this team and solidify his career here as a whole.

Whatever happens next is going to help or really hurt that.

But judging so far, i feel like theres more coming. I just dont have the confidence in him to pull it out and my patience though good, will start to wear if a few more players I'd like get signed.
