Hi there,

since we probably won't be able to sign Sundin, as of right now in the FA market do we have an interest in Federov even tough he is 37 and past his prime ? I wouldn't sign him at more than 2-2,5 $ but the guy still has skills as he put up decent number with the Caps, 11 pts in 13 games and good playoff numbers.

Since I come from Qc City, seeing him at the World championship made me aware he is still a good skater and could mentor youngsters like Andrei and Sergei...

If not Federov then what center would you aim to get in a trade ?

Horcoff ? Arnott ?

Thanks and be kind with me it's my 1st thread started : )

I think he would do well with us as a third line centre, with Koivu and pleks as #1 and #2. Good #1 thread. Go Tony Go.

As a third liner signed right before training camp because we couldn't get anyone else.

Also, if you're not really Tony Twist he may sue you for using his name and likeness, watch out.

it doesn't really matter at this point. all the big names are gone really except for Sundin which is likely we will lose. so federov wouldn't be all that bad.

Federov and Bert on the 3rd line for a combination salary of 4-5 million would be acceptable.

Both are 3rd to 2nd liners at this stage of their careers.

But why not Jagr?

Sundin I think we should just pass, who knows how long this process is going to take and who knows if he isn't stalling to see who else Fletcher may get in Toronto?

Federov would be great, and he should eb willing to accept a reasonable contract.

Perfect 3rd line center for us.

Tanguay-Plekanec-Kovalev
Latendresse-Koivu-A. Kostitsyn
Higgins - Fedorov - S. Kostitsyn
Lapierre - Chipchura - Kostopolous

Fedorov is quite decent on face-offs too isin't he? He'd be a good 3rd line center.

As a 3rd line centre, i think Fedorov would be a great fit! Pay him between 2-3 million and you have a pretty reliable centre who is good on the faceoff and that can pot 40-50 points a year. A 3rd line of S. Kost Fedorov and Latendresse would be pretty damn good I find...

A. Kost Pleks Kovy
Tanguay Koivu Higgins
S. Kost Fedorov Latendresse
4th line is rotation of guys such as Lapierre, Chipchura, Begin, Kostopoulos and Greg Stewart

Absolutely !

The 6m contract was given a long time ago. He's still good (56pts in 68 games), got a load of experience and should easily accept a one year deal. He can step up to line #2 in case of injury plus his defensive game was always so underrated.

Edit : Just looked at his face-off % in Washington : 55.58 %

you definately gotta break up that line and get A Kost on the RW - then you will REALLY get a break-out year from him.

Yes Sir!

I wanna see WTK behind the habs bench. I think he would have quite the temper and be fun to watch when mad. He'd be the type to throw the taped up load of hockey sticks onto the ice in a fit of rage!

One can dream. Actually, you'd be more likely to see me slapping the players in the face.

Yes, my all-time favorite player. Great skater, excellent on faceoff, excellent two-way, 100mph slapshot. I'd offer him 3M.
Feds @ 3M >>> Smoke @ 2M

not at the current rates. and although Fedorov > Smolinski, you lock yourself out of the Sundin sweepstakes if you do (which might not be a bad thing mind you.).

Any UFA who could help the team would do for me... I just do not want Bob to wait after Sundin... He's worse than a little girl!

Seriously, i'm starting to think that too. Make up your mind for cripes sake.

Sundin: "Do I want to play or not?" " Let's see, Roses are Red, Violets are Blue.....ahhhh Blue!!!..That makes me think of the Leafs again..." *starts crying*
