Wow you guys fleeced us, congrats.

Z is coming off of a career year and will flourish in New York without being tied down by Hitch's system.

Zherdev is all of what, 23 years old? 4th overall pick in 2003. Not bad at all.

Wow. I will really miss Tyutin, but you gotta give to get sometimes...and while I really like Tyutin, I will say he's not irreplaceable. Now the trick will actually be replacing him.

Also, this clears almost $3 mill in cap space at the moment, though Fritsche needs to be signed.

Zherdev = $2,500,000
Fritsche = RFA (needs to be qualified I guess)

Tyutin = $2,843,750
Backman = $2,300,000

Anyway you slice it, it looks like Slats just got Gomer a bonafide scoring winger and freed up $2 million. Gotta love it.

I have a feeling that another move is imminent... we are going to trade some of our redundant parts for a dman... Cally, Dawes, prucha, Fritsche, moore, Sjostrom etc... i don't think our answer for defense is in the FA market.

Amazing trade..

Tyutin is a good player. Takes the body especially against the board although none of the hits are absolute crushers.

Calling Backman a top 6 defenseman is being far too kind... THANK GOD HE'S GONE.

This definitely counts as a win on all accounts for Sather.

I know Tyutin isn't known for really laying people out but IIRC he led our team in hits. This begs the question, on a team that already lacked a big hitting d-man, how do we now fill that void.

So that's a salary swap for Backman & Zherdev, nice.

Fritsche looks like a 3rd/4th line center. Wonder where he winds up?

Why would it? The Rangers gain cap space.
