I know this might be a little bit out there. But what I'm getting on Fritsche is that he's a 3rd/4th line Center with potential. Anyone think the Centers next year end up being Gomez, Dubinsky, Fritsche and Betts with Drury on the wing somewhere?

Either we're stock piling people for the Pack or we're not done yet.
I'd say the latter. I mentioned this yesterday or early today, but Slats is a master at pulling this kind of deal off.

He could always still take faceoffs on the PK which is his strongest asset.

I think the Rangers are turning into a Russian team, haha. The more Russians maybe Slats things that it'll lure Cherepanov over easier. Of course we traded a Russian to get one. Maybe Zherdev with AA is the plan.

Tyutin is not a player you win with IMO. I wish him well in CBJ...but we dealt him at the perfect time.

Zherdev is a monster addition for Gomez' wing. Zherdev-Gomez-Jagr

This trade is an absolute heist.

Its not on TSN, Sportsnet or any where else but that blog apparently...

Yeah, i don't think so till it's official and if that's true, Columbus shouldn't just fire their GM, they should have him burned alive downtown and then throw him in the city dump.

They now have another hole on D...they need something, even if it's not Orpik. I'd rather go with a cheaper defenseman who can play the third pairing than Orpik right now, and sign Jagr for another year.

I'm listening to Eklund and he is pissed this just happened and is making up stories about us surrendering more in this trade like Petr Prucha he was speculating. And he's killing us for trading two defenseman. I hate Philadelphia Flyer fans.

Fritsche has primarily been playing wing in Columbus. He has bounced around on lines. Usually on the right side though. He likes to shot from the right face-off dot.

In 06/07 his season was cut short due to an injury - laceration of his wrist during a game. Last year, his hand was broken during a Detroit game toward the end of the season, he got in the way of a shot (I think it was one of ours actually).

Zherdev was like a square peg in a round hole in Columbus. He never seemed to be on the same page with his teammates. Maybe that will change in NY.

Columbus plays an even more conservative game then we do, so those numbers can be considered a little bit deflated for his potential too. Great stuff...did Don Maloney come back and make a smart decision or something?

there has to be another trade in the making... we have too many redundant forwards... dawes, prucha, cally, fritsche, sjostrom, moore, korpikoski,

And additionally, he can be a solid piece of trade bait.
