Has anyone forgotten about ...

That bringing in Jagr would reunite him with Kovalev from New York and Pittsburgh
Wonder how they would play today...

Roberts..Ruutu and Laraques are not quite the guys that make the difference there.
If its grit that they'll be missing down the stretch, they'll be able to add some at the deadline.
They do need a winger, although I would have focused more on D had I been Shero. This was their obvious weak point.

But until they'll have Crosby-Malkin-Staal-Gonchar-Whitney and Fleury. They'll be a shoe in for the POs

i didnt say they were going to get any of them but given the allure to play with a guy like crosby or malkin, that should theoretically give the pens a better chance at signing them

speaking of Streit...I get the feeling the Habs are going to miss what he brought alot more than some fans think

still doesn't mean i'd pay him 4.1M, but good for him, he's a good player.

It's an opportunity for a guy like Mathieu Carle to show what he can do in camp, teams can always use defensman who move the puck well.

Komi isnt ''on the market'' yet. So he's not worth that much just yet.
Also you can't compare Streit to Komi. Streit finished 3rd in the league in terms of Pts last season, that's why he got a big contract.
Finger is a pure ridiculous offer and so is Hainsey to be honest.

We can also point towards Orpik that signed around 3.5M.

I don't think Komi should earn more than 4M for his next contract.

I grew up a Wings fan. Now I live in Atlanta and have had season tickets for 5 years.

I hate the Leafs, but still can't see myself as a Habs fan--although you were my pick to come out of the East for the SC Finals. If only you had kept Huet it would have happened too.

Streit is worth more than Komi??????? Every other expensive UFA d-man is a fluke? Orpik is the exception, not the rule and Komi >>>>> Orpik.

UFA dman are really expensive, whether we like it or not. Don't you think that Komi would have gotten a multi-year 5M$ offer in this market? Seriously?

Incorrect. Zetterberg's cap hit is 2.65 million now. He is not gonna get more than 7.45 per year (Lidas money..no Wing can possible make more..thats a fact). That means a maximum of 4.80 million against Cap space.
And Franzen is not gonna get 5 million raise for sure. He will be signed for 2.8 at worst (or best, depends on point of view ).

Komisarek's agent would laugh at you and tell you to call him back on july first when he has 5.5 and 6.5 offers on the table.

Do you know how detroit does it? They sign their players to extensions early. That's why you have to do with a guy like Komisarek early and hard.

On the market yes, Streit might be worth more than Komi for the same reason that a Defensive Defenseman will never be part of the All-Star game or win a Norris trophy.

The ones that usually get the big money are the ones that put up offensive numbers.

Also, when you negotiate during the season, their value is lower.
Streit wasn't going to get anything more than 2.5 here. If Komi waits for open market, sure he'll get 4-5 maybe even 6. But he isn't on the open market, which is why i said I don't think Gainey will sign him for more than 4M if he does extend him before July 1st.

They'd try to beat each other for the longest shift.
On the positive side we wouldnt need a 4th line RW.

We don't have a Falconer on our boards...we've been looking for one. Sure you don't want to make the leap to the habs. You won't regret it...well; you may actually...too early to tell really.
