If I was Naslund I'd take the Pens offer. He'd probably be playing with Malkin and he could potentialy put up some big numbers again.

I would take Naslund at 4.

Question: Didn't the Rangers just saved 3 million on that deal they made today? Does that make them more a player on some accounts?
Awesome deal by them by the way though Tyutin is a good player.

Yeah but look at our wingers and d-men, that's hard to beat. We're going to win by having better depth than most teams at those positions.

exactly. We are the same team plus Tanguay but with more experienced youngster and a bunch of players on contract year. Yet, I'm sure a few of those "expert" will put Montréal out of the playoffs if Gainey doesn't sign anyone else, except Smolinski.

Anyway, I'm still confident Sundin will sign with Montréal. Just like Brett Favre, Sundin will have the "itch to play" somewhere in August. Too bad I won't be able to sleep until then. Me

i know, and i like the wings,

so if mtl can't upgrade to a #1 centre, then leave the team alone.

Ummm... have you SEEN Detroit's lineup lately? Scary!

We are weak at center, and the poster that replied to you is correct.

thefourthperiod.com has the offer at 1 year at $6 million. Jagr apparently wants more than 1 year.

Yeah, I didn't say we were the best, but we're up there. And I said I agreed with the 'weak' centermen we have, although you won't find many teams with a second line center who racked up 56 points.

7:31: Still no word from Bertuzzi and Naslund. The Penguins are exploring all options right now. There are quite a few teams who have jumped into the Naslund sweepstakes. I'm hearing he has offers from Pit, NYR, Min, Van, MTL, Ott. My sources expect some movement from him tonight. working the emails...... waiting back on some info. It is likely we will see a signing or two by midnight. From what I'm gathering the Penguins are looking for two forwards to play with Sidney Crosby.

Something I just thought of...what do you think about acquiring Havlat? Yes, I understand all the risks involved, but he only has one year left.

And Franzen is not gonna get 5 million raise for sure. He will be signed for 2.8 at worst (or best, depends on point of view ).
You are correct, but I just meant that together they are going to cost more than 10 million, compared to the roughly 3.5 they cost now.

But in terms of overall cap increase, you're right. Say Zetterberg gets 7.0, that's a 4.1 increase, and if Franzen gets a 30+ goal and 60+ point season (which he is capable of) then he should get at minimum at 4.5/yr contract. That's a 3.558 increase. So overall you're looking at 7.5 increase in cap hit, which is essentially Hossa's contract for this season.

The Wings are at 52 million right now, so with the Zetterberg and Franzen contracts coming up next year, I think this is a great move by Holland. Loading up for a possible repeat, knowing full well he'll have to sign some big raises next summer.

I'd love to but the man is one shoulder-injury away from retirement. IMO it's his last season. I'm sure Havlat would like too as his off-season home is in MTL.

Now Orpik and Weight are gone...we are getting further towards bare bones. I'm starting to think the guy we may target is Demitra.

We're waiting for Sundin because he's the only one one worth it for us. Him or Jagr are the only ones who can really put us over the hill imo.

“Jaromir is exploring his options but he’s in no rush to make his decision right away,” agent Pat Brisson told The Canadian Press on Wednesday.
