I'd give his agent a call... for the right price, that woulb be awesome...such an upgrade over smoke. He would be the perfect 3rd liner! I'd be giving him 2.2/2.5 but he will get a better offer.

I have to admit that signing Fedorov is starting to make a whole lot of sense.

Size, Experience, excellent two-way, still got wheels, great faceoff capability, not too heavy on the cap and...

...excellent replacement on top lines in case of lengthly injuries to Pleks and Koivu.

Sign him two years - 7M (3.75M + 3.25M; cap hit 3.5M) - to mentor Chipchura.

AK/SK - Pleks - Kovy
Tanguay - Koivu - Lats/AK/SK
Higgins - Federov - SK/AK/Lats
Lappy - Chippy - Kosto

Feds can play the point. I'd say yes.

Higgins - Plekanec - Kovalev
Tanguay - Koivu - Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Federov - Kostitsyn
Stewart/Begin - Chipchura - Lapierre

In the 90s when detroit had defence injury problems he played defence 5 on 5.... I'd say he can play the point on the PP.

Then I don't want him... since Carbonneau will have him on defence all year then

If we don't get Sundin, I'm hoping for Fedorov or Shanahan.

I say a 2-year contract so he can score his 500th carreer goal with us (he is currently at 473 goals if I'm not mistaken)

I'd love to have Fedorov wearing the CH next season or 2. As it's already been mentioned, should Saku or Pleks get injured, Sergei can move up and like Streit, he can move to D from forward, but of course Fedorov's got more experience, more talent and the ability to win faceoffs (an area the Habs can definitely improve in).

I really hope Gainey will do everything he can to get Fedorov. This guy is the perfect player for our team. He can play any position except in net, even tho I want him as our 3rd line Centre. However, since Owen Nolan just signed for almost 3M, I'm sure Fedorov will ask for 4M.

We have the space for that on a one to two year deal, just until one of Maxwell or White are NHL ready.

Federov was my favorite player after Patrick Roy when I was young.
I would certainly LOVE to see him here as our 3rd line center if we can't bring Sundin.

He would work until the deadline. And then go out and nab someone else then ... Playing ~13 minutes a game would be good pickup.

I think this is a reason for us NOT to have him sign here. A pretty damned (pardon the pun) good one.

Yep, Minnesota just destroyed the market.
