Rangers expected to make more noise; Mara doesn't seem likely.

would anyone like to sign Fedorov for cheap along with Jagr?

Prucha-Fedorov-Jagr
Zherdev-Gomez-Drury
blah blah blah

Redden-Staal
Rozy-Girardi
Potter-trade/Pock/Sangs

i think those would be awesome.

I don't think we need to invest that much in another defender. Make a solid package for Murray and bring up Potter and leave it at that.

They have a plethora of 3-4 line forwards and a need for a third pairing defenseman. A trade is certainly something you can't discount.

I like the Potter/Pock idea.

Your top 4 Dmen are going to log most of the time anyway. We have four guys who can hog a lot of ice time.

Maybe if you want to move Girardi to the third pairing, you can sign a guy like Jason Smith for your second pairing, but I wouldn't go crazy.

I'd look to sink most of the rest of my funds into some more scoring, if it was me making the calls.

Yea I wouldn't even pencil him in...a nice bonus if he decides to come back but if not he can take his premadonna ass elsewhere.

It's weird what a difference a day makes........yesterday I was like huh.......now I am like wow..........and I think with this one deal it makes Jagr's loss hurt less if it happens.............I think it's a must to sign Demitra and another quality tough D man if so

One tough dman and a JJ equivalent and then I would say Sather did a great job. Even so, I think he has actually done well already.

Looks like Slats offered Orpik 5 years and he opted for the Pens 6.

As for the four-player trade that brought Nikolai Zherdev to the Rangers and sent Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman to Columbus? Difficult to imagine that Sather didn’t pull the trigger figuring he had Brooks Orpik on the way. But Orpik chose to take less per season to return to Pittsburgh for a six-year deal when he turned down the Rangers’ five-year offer.

You'd have to think that Slats would have pulled the trigger regardless of Orpik

Man, that would've been one hell of a day for Slats.

I wonder if the next top-6 forward (if we bring one in at all) will be brought in to play with Drury, or to form a serious line with Zherdev and Gomez.

Zherdev - Gomez - Vermette/Cheechoo

Both look good to me.

So true.

I would have really liked to have Mara back as a 3rd pairing guy. I'm not sure if anyone out there in the free agent pool is an upgrade over him, so maybe we'll see one more smaller-scale deal.
