Anyone who'd rather play in Russia for more cash than to compete to win the Stanley Cup can stay in Russia and not be signed by the Habs. The Habs goal this year will be to win the cup and Yashin does not have that goal in his life.
I guess it was ineveitable. Kinda like striking out with the hottest girls in the club, it's 2:30am and you don't have a hook up...anything goes?
I think Yashin has all kinds of talent but sadly he's the tin man, no heart.
I needed a laugh. The deal here is not like a marriage witch is what BG is looking for. Yashin could have is act together. This no heart claims, well their come a time in a life where you check that ego at the door and become more then just a one night stand
At 3-5 million(only if Sundin is out) for 2 I would do it. If he is only considering taking 4-5 year deal hang the phone. Looking at the money going out a 5 million guy is not a super star. Yashin fits in their.
Yeah sure if Yashin cares and strictly offensively because you know that he wont try inside his own blueline.
Somehow I don't see Carbo liking that very much...

I definitely think there could be some merit to that statement. Some team may agree and take a flyer on him. But I hope it's not Montreal.
Funny but a realty. At 6'3 and 215+lbs right handed shot with offencive upsides is serious. You must admits that it was more is attitude that makes him risky, not is play. He had some up and down but hey the Islanders still wants him back.
Only for the player, I would take him, but now, we need more than skills. That why Gainey want Sundin, he wants more than the skills, Sundin is an incredible leader, hockey player and would make everyone on the team better. Sundin if he goes to a condender, he will have more desire than everyone and with the skills and the leadership he have, everyone will follow him for the best.

Personally, I have mixed feeling about this one.
Kovalev did have a good year in the defensive zone and I call that offense.
With Yashin our line up could look like this

This is the part do we miss. Not a Yashin.
Never in a million years would I consider Yashin over Sundin. If Sundin becomes impossible well it's still our 100th year so what the eck, make some noises. Their are worst team desision made this past days then giving Yashin an other shot in the NHL. Well you could say giving him 6-7 million for 4 years would bad. That is why I'm not worried cause IMO, BG will not break the bank for anyone. He want a balance team. So if Yashin wants to come to MTL, he better be prepare to take a pay cut. So you see whay I'm not worried.
Every team in the league passed on him two years in a row, and that rumor about the Islanders wanting him back was just that, a rumor... Why would that be?
Yashin is not even worth a thread. So much talent, but such a cancer...
I asked the question in a thread but can't find it anymore....
Either way what do you guys think? From what I remember, his contract allows for him to come back to the nhl if he gets an offer. Not sure how he did in Russia last year but for a 2-3 Mil deal, could it be acceptable?
No thanks -- wouldn't touch Yashin or Bertuzzi with a 10 foot pole!
If the idea is to bring Yashin in to center one of our top 2 lines. My answer would definitely be no. But if Yashin would consider coming back for 3/4mil per for 2 seasons to center our 3rd line. My answer would be yes.
On the Sens and Islanders Yashin was always counted on to be the star. In Montreal we have enough talent so that Yashin could comfortably settle into a secondary role. He could also step into one of the top 2 slots with no problems if there is an injury.
His attitude problems IMO have been way over blown. Talking to a lot of Islander fans, their problem with Yashin is he didn't live up to that huge contract. Well if we sign him for 3 or 4mil per, our expectations will be much lower.
I don't know how some of you would feel about it. But for me seeing our 3 top lines looking something like this would be impressive.
