4:37pm ET - Says Naslund, "Initially, there was quite a few teams contacting us. Me and my agent, I gave him instructions early on that there was only limited number of teams I was interested in playing for and the Rangers were on top of that list."
Nice...

2 years is really not that bad, SOS. He can be bought out of his 2nd if necessary.

Hate the Naslund signing.
Prove me wrong Markus, and i will cheer for you.
But i highly doubt that you will thrive in New York, you have pretty big shoes to fill(yes, Jagrs one).
Crap

Kalinin is Russian and so is Zherdev. Both were born in USSR. The only and very insignificant difference is that Zherdev was born in Kiev, Ukraine. Hell, Kiev is "mother of Russian cities." I don't understand this Ukrainian-Russian issue.

Great signing. Kalinin is as solid as Toots

What can anyone tell me about Kalinin? Is he comparable to Toots? I wouldn't be surprised if we took Kalinin over say J. Smith in part to give Zherdev a "friend" in the locker room. Tom likes his locker room to have harmony.

Now I, for one, would like to have Jason Smith. We've missed out on Brendan Witt last summer - I don't want to miss out on a defensive stalwart and leader this time around.

Kalinin is very soft mentally.. He is going to be a huge disappointment to you guys. He has all the physical skills and is great on the rush but he'll be a healthy scratch a lot. Just be prepared.

He's not replacing Jagr; he's the bridge to Cherepanov.
