Not going to miss him, to me he was the face of a losing team after the WCE. Nice guy met him a few times but not sad...He never really was the same without the WCE, In a way the style AV wanted to play didn't help him either.
It was that way over the past couple of seasons. Overall though, most people seem to appreciate what he accomplished for the team. It's just sad it ended the way it did.
Yours and jryki21's comments seem to be based on the assumption that the internet is somehow representative of Canuck fans. I'm also not sure if you guys are implying these comments have impacted Naslund. Does he read these forums?
As for the trashing a star, and no other city doing it, that's really melodramatic and I think we all know that's not the case.
Nazzy will be missed. Easily one of the greatest Canucks ever and somebody who brought all of us out of our seats. I can't wait to see his jersey hanging beside Stan's and Trevor's. Good luck in New York, Markus, thanks for all the great years!
What I said is that no other city would trash its all-time leading scorer to such an extent. Including those well into their decline.
Well, that's an important distinction, but I don't know how relevant. I can think of a lot of examples of cities in pro-sports trashing their biggest stars, but most of them have a successful or rich history that pre-dates the internet era.
Lots of star players getting the same or worse treatment. Mats Sundin comes to mind. Many more examples in the NBA and NFL.
And again, it assumes that the internet and call-in radio shows are representative or impacting Naslund.
