I agree, do that, bringing the Sharks' total caphit to about $53.4M. Then the Canucks could tender an offersheet to Ryane Clowe for $2.5M, really making the Sharks think twice about matching considering they would also have Ehrhoff to re-sign.

The way they're leaking quality players and with both the Sedins and Ohlund due raises as UFAs next season, the last thing the Nucks want to do is give up first round picks.

Who said anything about 1st round picks? A $2.5M offersheet would cost a 2nd round pick.

What kind of players does Tampa need/what would they want for Boyle?

I would rather it be Ehrhoff than Carle, I see more upside in Carle.

Don't say that around here, some people have a mancrush...

Well, I think a "safe" trade would be something along the lines of Ehrhoff + pick. Ehrhoff is already pretty steady in his own zone for much of the time and has reasonable offensive upside too. Ehrhoff could step in and play big minutes for you now.

Carle would work too, a little more high risk/high reward, although ultimately I think he'll turn out to be a good one. His celing is pretty high.

I think the Sharks are grooming Carle to be their man of the future. I also think TB would rather have Ehrhoff, who has shown that he can excel in a "defense first" role at times.

As for prospects, our top guys are Setoguchi, Couture, Petrecki, Wishart, and Greiss. I'm not too too knowledgeable about the farm, but I think the next level would consist of players like Joslin, Morris, etc.

How about something along the lines of Ehrhoff + 1st for Boyle? Similar to what we gave for Campbell, but Ehrhoff is much further along than Bernier is. You'd also free up enough cap space to add another piece later on if needed.

i don't think the Sharks should/would give up another 1st rounder. i'd say Ehrhoff, McLaren, a 4th, and Kaspar would be about fair value for Boyle in this situation.

They're trying to dump salary, McLaren would kill that

It's down to the Canucks, Sharks and Flyers. The Islanders and Senators dropped out.

The asking price for Boyle is said to include a young NHL roster player, a prospect and a 1st round draft pick.
I like it.

San Jose's offer was Setoguchi and Carle at the deadline. I could see something like that again.

I really, really hope that the Canucks don't go through with this trade. Given how the off-season has turned out, we need to rebuild. This team is much better off keeping the young roster player (Kesler/Edler/Bieksa) their prospect and their 2009 1st round pick.

Seriously Mike Gillis, time to rebuild this sucker. Stop clawing.

Bleah. As a Sharks fan, I really hope Doug Wilson doesn't have to give up that much for Boyle. I just don't think he's worth it.

I'm wondering if Wilson can fleece Feaster, please let it happen. Though I think new ownership seems to be running things now.

Same, I wouldn't give up both Carle and Setoguchi... though I would give Wishart
