Dan Boyle has signed his "no-trade" waiver and has agreed to a trade to the San Jose Sharks.

In return for the 31-year old veteran defenceman and defenceman Brad Lukowich, Tampa will receive a package that includes defencemen Matt Carle, Ty Wishart, a first round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

After acquiring Rob Blake and Dan Boyle, the San Jose Sharks traded away defenceman Craig Rivet to the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sharks sent Rivet and a seventh-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Sabres in exchange for second-round selections in the 2009 and 2010 drafts.

Bernier to Canucks

I'll admit it, the Canucks got a steal.

Seeing Bernier go for a 2nd and a 3rd, does anyone else wish we would have (assuming the opportunity was there) thrown in another 3rd rounder to pick up Bernier as opposed to Bourque.

Bernier 45 goals, 90 points in 177 games. Turned 23 years old this year, former 1st round pick, 6'2 225.

Bourque 33 goals, 75 points in 183 games. Turns 27 this year, went undrafted. 6'2 205.

Bernier is a guy I think could have worked well with Langkow and Iginla and allowed him to take his game to the next level like he was always expected to...

Just my opinion. Also note that Bernier is a RFA, not sure what he would have wanted to resign.

He's an RFA without a contract, I wonder what he is asking for?

He doesn't have the greatest footspeed, but that is a big body, and a right handed shot with pretty decent hands, he should look good with the Sedins.

As for him over Bourque, honestly I'll take the faster "kid" that just signed on for two years.

I would have liked Bernier, but the contract is definitely the question.
